Gonna have to establish some regular headcanons before I delve into alternate ones. She originally came to Japan to spread word (and show off her knowledge) of Taoism, and shortly afterwards is when she heard the rumour of some genius politician and saint who could hear people’s desires or something. That never happened, so what was she left to do?

This post kinda assumes you’re as versed on the backstory of Seiga and Ten Desires as I am, so apologies if you’re reading this and you have little idea what how any of it correlates. Then again, I could just be bad at explaining which could be the reason too.

1. Not having made such a ‘convenient’ companion in Miko, she wouldn’t have had much say or way to impact the religious deadlock at the time, the one between Buddhism and Shintoism. So she mostly to the sidelines, and was less inclined to talk about Taoism because it really seemed like most people weren’t interested, at least not to the degree she desired.

2. Assuming she doesn’t get fed up enough to just move on to a different state or even back to China, Seiga would decide she’d approach various people of political influence, either as some admirer or follower, or as a friendly spirit appearing right in their quarters. The reason for this? Well, she’s decided she would play a 4X game, but with real Japan.

3. She secretly offers plenty of insightful advice to all sorts of people on different sides, on how to better win the hearts of people. The end result is many charismatic leaders clashing ideals in an exciting manner. Japan would not see stability for a much longer time.

4. Yoshika ends up causing a bit more terror and destruction because I imagine without having met Miko, Seiga wouldn’t have just one convenient place she could ask the jiang-shi to stand around all day. So that servant tends to wander places and urban legends of a dangerous walking corpse are much more abundant.
