I feel like we’re sleeping on a few things here:

1.) Confirmation that Betty and Jughead love scary movies, and especially Betty loves scary movies, so much so that she’s dressing up as the protagonist of a movie from 1978. She is such a horror movie nerd that she expects JB, who was born in the mid-2000s, to recognize her costume, and if not that then the character name, and if not that then the movie that was released, and I feel I can’t stress this enough, in 1978. Like, look at her face there, she is so confused that JB doesn’t automatically recognize her costume. What else could she be while wearing a blue button-down shirt, aka a normal outfit?

2.) How many Halloweens did Betty and Jughead spend watching scary movies, and how many of those did they strong arm Archie into when they were younger? How annoying were they to watch these movies with, and to what extent are they horror movie snobs?

3.) JB does not care about horror movies, and I’m not sure if that means she never got to see them, never paid attention when Jughead was like “It’s time for your horror education,” or if Jughead just didn’t bother her with them.

4.) JB misses her brother so much and is so bitter about it. She’s so desperate to spend time with him that she opted to spend her Halloween watching scary movies, which, again, she doesn’t seem to care about, with him and his girlfriend when she could be doing literally anything else. Here she is, awkwardly spending time with her brother’s dweeby girlfriend just because she thinks she’ll be spending time with her brother soon. And then when that might not be happening, she storms off in a moment of peak teenage grumpiness. Universe, stop preventing Jughead from spending time with his sister.
