probably the most insane behaviour i am exhibiting about my own manuscript is that i am currently in the outtakes documents looking for evidence of josie x jason when like. i wrote them. i chose what they would do or feel. i chose that they would remain platonic the whole story because that is important to the narrative. and yet here i am pointing at an outtake where jason calls josie hot and going AHA I KNEW IT like

had a meeting with my dissertation supervisor and yes there were lots of good points but really I'm just gonna focus on the part where I've gotta write 50k in three weeks
all i’m saying is show your writing to people who know how to write because my tutor made an offhanded comment about ‘why does josie’s mind go from meeting her father again, to polina, then back to her father, when we could remove polina entirely and bring her back at a later moment and make it all about her’ and so i removed the polina scene and not only did it lower my word count back down to the limit i had far exceeded, but the entire thing works better keeping that focus on the father
i literally would not have thought of it by myself show your work to people and take their advice sometimes

i know there’s no romance in this novel for the protagonist but i still find her and her best friend so undeniably cute that maybe one day,,,,,,,,,,, maybe far off in the future they’ll find each other and that makes my heart so warm
