A brief visit to Jay Tsujimura’s studio / shop - Tokyo, Japan
Silver soft release buttons, individually hand-made and screwed into shutter buttons of Leica M rangefinders. I think that was how my mate Paul and I discovered Jay Tsujimura’s custom jewellery on the internet some years ago.
We made the trek over to his studio where Paul had arranged for us to meet - a small cosy space, dimly lit, draped in red and black, with guitars, books and framed photographs by fashion photography legends littered around the room.
Despite the fierce interior decor, Jay’s personality was the complete opposite. He was easy going, open about his work, and talked about the beach quite a bit. He told us about the history of his jewellery making, living in the States and Europe for a number of years before making the move back to Tokyo.
I left the store with a cherry blossom flower soft release button for my Leica which I will show you in another post.
