A new adventure that is the enigmatic "Mr. Nobody"
Darkness, Wisdom, and the classic fate between good and evil all hang in the balance in a newly released independent comic book coming straight out of Eureka Comic Labs. Trying to find more in superheroes and comic book storytelling outside of the mogul companies like “Marvel” and “DC really allows readers and long time fans of comics, to be able to experience and expand upon a completely new artistic journey.
Recently, this past week, I journeyed upon a book from the Eureka labs, entitled “Mr. Nobody”. Penciled by Kevlen Goodner and written by Kevlen Goodner, the series's first issues sets the stage for mysteries and gives the readers questions that need answering. Doing exactly what a first issue is suppose to do, it caused me to want to get those answers to those important questions.
Blending images of enlightenment, higher learning, and even hinting at biblical forces at work, Goodner combines those things with artwork found in several hiphop forms. He showcases his impeccable pencils and graffiti styled art and poses the idea that why very much “natural” or “normal” things may be occurring in the story’s timeline, some very supernatural or unearthly things seem to be happening as well.
These elements of storytelling often work for most approaches to fiction. Its just that Mr. Nobody prides itself in engaging, cinematic storytelling that, because of it, the reader doesn't haven't time to focus on how his or her plot-line questions aren’t being answered on face value, but instead the story focuses the reader on just enjoying the literary experience.
The story’s opening and overall feel reminded me of the beginning stages of Todd McFarlane’s Spawn. Where the experience is much grounded in that of captivating enigma. The artwork for it is currently only in black/white prints. Hopefully comic book connoisseurs will be able to own a full color copy in the future. The pencils and inks look good but the story seems to rely more on its eternal dialogue rather than pictures. While i have read more stories that seem like they are pictures with words, “Mr Nobody” seems to be words with pictures, where the pictures accompany the text (instead o the other way around). Maybe the issues in the future will change. But if you are a comic book reader looking for something new, fresh, serious and a plot that attempts to uncover a mysterious new world, Mr. Nobody seems to suggest that it’s your next best purchase.
