@magicandmayhcm semi-plotted for will!!
It’s one of the few off days he and Will have. It isn’t often that they have an off day on the same day, so, Jay had decided to take advantage of that. Come over with beer and watch a game with his brother instead of spending time at Molly’s. It’s been a while since it’s been just the two of them, hanging out like brothers should.
Sometime during the night, Will had gone to the kitchen for what Jay had assumed was another beer - he didn’t know, didn’t question it, because it hadn’t taken long for the Detective to fall asleep upon the sofa.
There’s a weight upon him that has Jay shifting, probably a blanket, but as soon as he’s stirs he’s going right back to sleep. Working so much has exhausted him - a week straight trying to catch some killer with very little sleep in between. This was a much needed nap.
Except, what had previously been a well-rested sleep suddenly turns bad. Nightmares of war that shifts into nightmares of torture - everything all at once that has Jay waking up with a startled gasp and suddenly all he can see is somewhere else - some other room with blood on his hands and the floor.
Somehow, some way, he ends up off the sofa and backing himself up into a dark corner where he slides down onto the floor with his knees up to his chest - he feels so small, so vulnerable. He jumps at the sound of something that sounds like a bullet, again at screams that aren’t there. He sees things flash before his eyes, dead bodies, explosions, blood - it’s too much, everything is too much. It feels like there is blood all over him, there’s phantom pain in his side like there’s a knife cutting into him that isn’t there.
It’s too much and he begins trembling, head bent downwards against his knees where the sounds of muffled crying can be heard.
Go away, go away, go away.
This isn’t real, this isn’t real, this isn’t real!
But it feels so real. Oh god - it feels so real.
