•Happy Thanksgiving!• • First, a reminder that we live on stolen land, and so to be able to be thankful and have hope for our future, we must recognize and rectify our past of hatred and assimilation. • Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! This year is full of firsts, and we had one this weekend. The last meal my grandmother shared with us is thanksgiving, and it was the beginning of the end for her. So, instead of having to be in the same environment that has those painful memories, we ‘re creating new traditions and visited Jasper for the weekend. It’s beautiful, the crisp weather of autumn makes the mountains so beautiful, and despite having my parents, my little brother, my aunt, and myself all under the same roof, we have had an amazing weekend! • I have so many things to be thankful for, so let’s get going. I’m grateful for my life and my body, as shitty as they may be sometimes. It allows me to do the things I love. I’m grateful for the rights I have as a human being living in Canada, and I recognize my privilege as a white person in our world. I am grateful for my family for loving me as I am, including my sexual orientation and gender identity, and know that others don’t have that support. I’m grateful for the education I have access to, the fact I have a roof over my head and food on my plate. I am grateful for friends that have given me so much joy in my life, so many reasons to smile, and reasons to keep going. I’m grateful for those that have passed on that have impacted my life in a way that’s unforgettable. I am grateful for my platform, and the creators who have inspired me to create, such as @thomassanders, @danielhowell, @amazingphil, @jessiepaege, @amandarachlee, and many others that I can’t recall right now. I am grateful for those that have chosen to follow me for whatever reason, as you all keep me going when nothing feels real anymore. Thank you for being in my life.
