|Rodeo took me on a lackluster ride| 🎤📄 For the last year, the flames and charisma of Travis Scott drove us as he evolved into the notorious “La Flame”. With a meteoric impact of acclaimed mixtape Days Before Rodeo, we caught a glimpse of something fresh as Scott redefines the platforms of a southern rapper to combine a new genre giving fans a taste of the next generation of sound. With the traditional syrup-sipping lag focused on the lifestyle fixed with fame, Rodeo aims to tell the tale of a rock star on a quest for disorder. Overall, Rodeo hits a stale point that questions the wildfire Scott ignites on stage. Rodeo starts off with T.I. giving a brief introduction about a man named Juaq (Travis' real name) and his journey of non-conformity and rebellion, which sets the mood for the entire album; expecting a wild ride that would put me in a mental state of ramped emotion and eventual party induced coma that I wouldn't wake up from until the next morning — similar to what his concerts have become infamous for. Instead, I was stuck in a cloud of overhyped repetition that did not live up to its expectations. There are some plausible productions and guest features from Quavo, Kanye West, Future, 2 Chainz, Chief Keef, Juicy J, and The Weeknd, giving a melting pot of punk goth-inducing plays that simply make you not want to give a f**ck, which is what we all expect, but the album's features couldn’t save the project from the lack of lyricism that left the whole blueprint flat. Track by track, Scott retraces his steps with cohesive subject matter that places a major gap throughout the album, leaving Rodeo in the depth of unreached potential. Often, some tracks felt overworked and ended in a dull transition of echoes and cries fixed with guitar chords that set the mood for a great song, but over the course of the album pirates over itself. Scott as an artist, utilizes production skills and adrenaline fueled emotion, which is what the entire album's flame is charged by. His ability to create ....
