dood, Mimi and Jared. AU where they do that date thing.
Aw Y E S more Mimi in my life makes me v happy!!
- They bond over the fashion show. They’re both putting up a front and they can instinctively tell. They feel a weird pull towards each other and as soon as Jared pulls out a rose, Mimi’s thinking to how she can use this to her advantage. Or...she tries to. For some reason, it’s not as easy with this guy. Everyone and their mother tries to tell Jared what a horrible person Mimi is and how he should stay away, but Jared trusts the weird gut feeling he gets. It’s more confirmed when Kakusu comes up to him one day before class and tells him how much Mimi has actually been smiling.
- I said before that Mimi and Mai would be the couple to show off at every chance, but they’re blown out of the water by Mimi and Jared. Jared does his extremely cheesy lines, Mimi gloats to anyone who cares to listen (or doesn’t, she doesn’t care), they do the most extravagant types of coupley poses in the hall. Jared loves lifting Mimi over his head, they basically drape themselves over each other. It goes on for a couple weeks like this before they realize...it’s really hollow. Not that their lives weren’t fairly hollow before then but...this is weirdly different. They avoid each other and try to act as nonchalant as possible when they do bump into each other. The pain in the other’s eyes is obvious to them, but they don’t want things to become serious, or they might have to face their own demons.
- One night, Mimi’s taking a walk around, trying to clear her head of this mess. She likes wandering around the empty classrooms because she feels like she’s the only one in the world, and it’s both comforting and scary to her. She ends up bumping into Jared in full D&D attire who is putting away the materials. They have this weird moment where they just sort of stare at each other and Jared considers throwing himself out the window because even if he felt different about her, she’s still the gossip girl Mimi who likes to destroy people. She does try to tease him but even he can tell her hearts not in it. They end up having a long talk in the closet (so no one else stumbles upon Jared like this), with maybe some tears and confessions about a little bit of their family life (not everything, just the surface) and they grow closer. They go to bed happy and feeling something neither has felt before.
- The next day, Jared and Mimi eat lunch together. They sit out by the tree, she’s sitting on his lap. Both are whispering sweet nothings to the other and giggling from time to time. Everyone is super confused because they aren’t showing off, they’re actually avoiding everyone else to be alone. When Jared goes to the Normal Boots table (he divides his lunch between them and Mimi, and strangely, Mimi never asked to join in), he has such a soft smile on his face that all anyone can do is congratulate him and pray Mimi’s not tricking him. They’re pretty much convinced when Mimi has the same damn smile and gets chewed out at least 3 times for not paying attention.
- Jared invited her along to D&D one day and after Ian threatens to walk out (or actually does), she gets pretty into it. Sure, she’s not great at it the first time around. But eventually the rest of the D&D group sees how much she’s grown...and strangely how much Jared has grown too. Her character is a thief who literally steals Jared’s character’s heart. It’s so damn cheesy but intriguing that the rest of them can’t help but be interested.
Bonus: He calls her “bunny” (and then “kitty” when she tells him what her parents do). She calls him “sparks” or “sprinkles.”
Ultimately, these are two people wearing their masks and putting up their defenses who can help each other come to terms with who they really are.
