Reposted from @kishlb - #JaqiWright and her mother couldnāt get enough of her sisterās #cheesecake. The two of them, relaxing on New Yearās Day, savored two slices each while sipping coffee. āāYou really can sell these,'ā Wright recalls her mother saying. āAnd thatās when I sat up straight,ā Wright says. Wright and her sister, #NikkiHoward, are #furloughed #federalemployees who have found themselves without work and a paycheck since the partial #governmentshutdown began Dec. 22. Like some of the 800,000 federal employees and contractors who are without pay during the 19-day shutdown, Wright and Howard ā who work for the Justice Department and #FoodandDrugAdministration in #WashingtondC., respectively ā are worried about how the lack of pay will impact their finances. So the #Maryland-based sisters decided to follow their motherās advice. They launched# #TheFurloughCheesecake on #NewYearsDay and are now selling cheesecakes for $29.98 each. āWe donāt know when this is going to end. We donāt have a clue,ā Howard, the #baker behind the operation, says. āBut instead of dwelling on that and feeling the depression that tends to come with these kinds of situations, weāre making a decision to do something else.ā - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/BtESuLunwbA/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1v3qo2p18iy87
