Jamie Smith X Emiko M. Venlet IG Live @11 am PST, Thursday, April 8th “How we collaborated!” Hello folks! Today I would like to talk about the little collaboration I did with the extraordinaire Jamie Smith! @jamiesmithstudio It was late December 2020, we had a zoom chat about our creative process and how we could make it more fun and exciting and we came up with an idea of possible collaboration. Since Jamie’s work and my work share a similar aesthetic and we both love vases, it was pretty straightforward to get this collaboration started and we were on board right away! One thing we decided to do for this collaboration is that we would work with different mediums than our regular ones to make it more challenging and more fun! We both chose gouache and we were set to go. Jamie would draw and paint her beautiful vase designs. I mean, it was breathtakingly beautiful! And my part was to draw and paint what I do well; still life. After we each did our part, we mailed our work to each other in an envelope with a stamp on it. (hello, snail mails!
