It is definitely my favourite in the series so far! Finding out what we did at the end of the last book meant that this one had so much more meaning. This book and the rest of the series was self published and I felt like you could tell McGuire was no longer held back! We have spicy scenes five pages in! Thomas being the oldest brother (each book focuses on one of the brothers) meant that this book was the most mature and reflected that. Liis is such a great main character and is so fierce and independent which I really love to see! And she didn't have to compromise on that with the love interest (Thomas). Watching their relationship twist and change made for a great read. Again, I love how McGuire links all the books and the situations involved in each book! This book has me even more excited to continue on to the next three in the series! 𝐐𝐨𝐭𝐝: How do you choose your next read? After finishing the Benedict-Savant series, starting the Maddox Brothers series is next on my list. It's kind of like a spin off from the Beautiful Disaster series (for want of a better word). This is another series I've had for way too long! It is about Travis (from the first series) brothers and how they find love! I'm looking forward to it but I'm still not sure when I'll start it? B O O K R E V I E W : Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire Rating: 3.5/5 stars Goodreads: 4.2 ⭐ Walking Disaster is the second book in the 'Beautiful' series which is from Travis' POV. We get to see all the events from the first book through Travis' eyes and some new content from when he isn't with Abby. I really liked that we got to see more of Travis with his family, mainly his brother Trenton, which I think the next book will be focused on (not sure yet). Certain scenes were skipped over in this book in a couple of sentences but I'd have liked to see Travis' thoughts etc on some of those. Like when Abby gets cornered by Ethan. I do enjoy Travis and Abby's story but I can't ignore the huge problems that I have with theses books. Travis is possessive, controlling, angry, and overall very toxic. He picks fights with so many people for comments that most would just ignore. He tells Abby that she should change because he can't stand other boys looking at her in certain clothes. He describes her drinking as 'man sized gulps'. All the boys in this book describe having sex with girls as 'bagging' or getting 'bagged' which is really revolting. The comment that I really took offence to was when they were at a Halloween party and Travis describes another girl as looking like a 'transvestite whore' which is disgusting and I really wonder what the author was thinking when she wrote that in a YA romance. The finally chapter is 11 years on and I enjoyed seeing what Abby and Travis were doing and they both seemed happy and to have grown a lot which doesn't excuse any of the toxic behaviour previously in the book but it was nice to see that bad habits had gone with age. I'm looking forward to reading the short novella 'Something Beautiful' which is about Travis' cousin, Shepley and Abby's best friend America who featured a lot in the first two books. They have a more healthy relationship so it will be nice to read about them as main characters. Overall, this book is a very mixed bag for me. 🖤 B O O K R E V I E W : 🖤 Beautiful Disaster by @thejamiemcguire Rating: 4/5 stars Goodreads: 4.09⭐ I read this book 6 years ago and I never got around to reading the rest of the series so I thought I'd pick it up again now and finally get through the series. It barely took me five hours to read this book (annoyingly I had to go to bed so I couldn't read it in one sitting). Abby and Travis' relationship goes from strangers to friends to lovers and it is a really intense relationship where they both have demons that could ruin what they have. Abby still calls Travis out for his shit and their relationship is a 'beautiful disaster'! It probably isn't the best romance to read at a young age because of the slight toxicity but it was so well written and the characters really drew me in. They did work through a lot of the issues in their relationship. It kind of follows the friends to lovers trope. There are so many twist and turns in their relationship which really kept me engaged and it felt like a bit of a whirlwind. I'm looking forward to reading 'Walking Disaster' which is in Travis' POV and seeing how that book differs to this one. There is also a series that is linked to this one that is about each of Travis' brothers!
