In the middle of her gardening, and at a beautiful day at that, Princess Mirana had been interrupted. She had been summoned to join her father, the King, in the throne room. She let out a disappointed huff, leaving her lovely flowers behind, hoping such a meeting was to be short. Things had been quite hectic lately with all the whispers in the Kingdom that a traitor was within their midst. All the Princess wanted to do was study her gardening and her sword training. As well as her magic and potions. However, all of that had to wait. For her royal duties had been required to take priority ever since she was appointed heir to the throne. if she were to be Queen one day, the King insisted she stood by his side when such duties arose.Â
Gliding into the throne room, she immediately took to the King’s side. She could not help but notice the odd stares from the people in the court. Glancing down at herself, she frowned at the state of her once pristine royal attire that was now covered in grass and dirt. She avoided the King and Queen’s disappointed gaze as it was much too late for her to clean up. There was clearly much more important matters at hand when a prisoner was presented before them. Mirana could not help but notice the prisoner had his son at his side. The young man had such a kind face, Mirana would not believe that he could possibly have committed such crimes. She could not imagine what he was going through.Â
Her sympathetic gaze fixated on him, agonizing at what was to become of him. After much deliberation, the King had sentenced the man and his son for imprisonment. With this, Mirana had grown a bit panicked. Without hesitation, she interrupted her father, very unlike the often calm and quiet Princess she was. Suggesting the first thing that came to her mind, Mirana took a deep breath before wearing quite a cold expression as she implored him to make the young man a servant. She needed one to polish her armor and to clean out her horse’s stables after all. She was known to take on such tasks herself, however, due to the circumstances, she did not wish imprisonment for the young man. Perhaps he could be useful if put to work.
Surprisingly, the King and Queen were delighted at the suggestion as they could certainly use more servants. Of course, the King insisted the Princess treat him as such. With a roll of her eyes, Mirana had no choice but to agree.Â
She stepped down, walking toward the young man with her demeanor quite haughty, she demanded. “This way, boy and keep up.” She glided away, hurrying out of the throne room, hoping he was close behind her.
