The familiar chime of his mobile is enough to pull his attention away from the computer screen. A text from Bond and he’s quick to respond.

Damn. Gemma had thought she made sure this car was failproof fist hitting the dash, she grumbled. It was a good twenty to twenty-five-mile hike, and it was not that the walk was going to kill her. Gemma could hike for days. It was the fact that they had some unfriendly ‘friends’ on their asses. Looking over, she sighed, “fine, though we are going to need to get as much as we can out of this car. I'm sure they will catch up to us at some point, and when they do, I want to be ready to fight. I'm sure you don’t mind that,” she spoke, opening the door and stepped out. Eyes quickly taking in the area around them, which consisted of open land, and a forest. Good, they can get into the cover and walk along it, using it to their advantage, unless Mr. Spy guy has a better idea. “So you got any contacts nearby?”

Truthfully, she hadn’t planned on letting this happen on their first date (because at this point, there was no denying that the dinner had in fact been one). She had expected him to make a move; he was James Bond after all, but she’d been certain she would rebuff him. Not yet, not before she could gauge how serious he was.
But the look in his eye as they stood outside the restaurant, waiting for his car to be brought around, felt like an answer in and of itself. She’d never seen him look at her so tenderly before. And if that somehow wasn’t enough, as soon as he rested his hand against her cheek, thumb brushing against her lips she knew she was a goner. She was already smiling when his lips met hers, her hand resting on his chest as she kissed him back softly.

His first field assignment since they’d started dating had been a lot more difficult to watch than Eve had anticipated. Particularly as nobody knew they were an item. Maybe it had naive to think that she wouldn’t be more worried than in the past - whilst she’d always counted him as one of her dearest friends, this had been a new level of stress.
It was a great relief to leave work finally knowing that he’d made it out in one piece. An even greater relief to know that would be back in London that evening; that she would see him at work the next day.
She was settled on the sofa, work clothes replaced by joggers and an old t-shirt when the door bell rang. Frowning, she got up and answered the door, her frown quickly replaced with a broad smile when she saw James standing there.
“Hi.” She’d barely got the word out before his lips were against hers, pulling her flush against him. She responded eagerly, almost desperately, her fingers tangling in his short hair, chest pressed against his. Even when she eventually ended the kiss, wanting to look at him more than anything, she made no move to pull away from his firm, but incredibly warm, embrace.
Clearly he’d missed her too.
