PARENT AU. HUMANSTUCK CANDY APPLES. FUCKING DO IT
Things I know about Jaklan: 0. Also heâs adorable???????????¿¿¿?
This might be a little ooc pffff
Also this got a lot longer than expected.
Who cried when they brought their child home for the first time: Jack. Rube holds his emotions very well, and possibly he was more worried about what the kid physically needed, like if he was hungry or something, because he worries more about being a better parent than his father/ancestor ever was.
Who would wake up in the middle of the night to check on the kid(s): First times? They both go because itâs their first baby and they are so worried like âWHAT IF ITS SUDDEN DEATH WHAT IF HES HUNGRY WHAT IFâŠâ and so on. After it starts getting annoying? Rube goes and lets Jack rest.
Who changes the kid(s) diapers: Jack. Rube gets it on the second try, but Jack refuses to let him do it because itâs his kid as well and because heâs seen how upset Rube gets when he has to wash his hands too much (since he cooks dinner and canât touch food with dirty hands). Also itâs kind of making up for letting him sleep during the night.
Who makes the bottles: Rube, and then Jack feeds the baby. Rube is good with the technical aspects like the instructions, quantities and temperature, but freaks out when itâs about feeding the baby and always begs Jack for help. HE ALWAYS STAYS AND WATCHES.
Who stays up late at night to rock the kid(s) to sleep and sing them lullabys: Jack. Rube is too shy to sing, but he likes listening in secret.
Who is guilty of spoiling the kid(s): BOTH OF THEM. THE BOTH OF THEM CANâT SAY NO. Rube -knows- he shouldnât do it but always ends up going out of his way to do it because he doesnât want his kid to grow up affectionless like him, and Jack is just too proud of the child to learn when to say no. They always have to reach an agreement on what is allowed and what not. And sometimes they break it anyway.
Who would give the kid(s) cookies in the middle of the night: Either of them. TBH I think the kid would grow sick of cookies and baked goods and end up running away from them because both parents are always baking lmao. During winter thatâs great because it warms up the whole house.
Who always takes the kid(s) side: Jack. Rube can sometimes get a bit more strict and intimidating (thank you, Iossis, thank you) but he bends easily with his childâs and Jackâs puppy eyes combo.
Who would wake up early to make breakfast for the kid(s) before school: RUBE. RUBE. RUBE. ALWAYS RUBE. HE DECLARES THE KITCHEN HIS TERRITORY DURING THE MORNINGS AND FIGHTS FOR IT LIKE THE ALPHA. He wants his kid to be well fed!! Then he crashes and takes a nap to make up for the time he didnât sleep. The other option would be sleeping earlier than Jack and he doesnât want to miss the chance to fall asleep with him or to eat supper in family or to hear him sing. So no sleeping earlier!
Who gets the kid(s) ready for school in the morning: Jack. Heâs the one with more sense of style and also he just loves brushing the kidâs hair and styling them up.
Who takes the kid(s) to school: Jack. Rube is at home sleeping a bit to recover a bit from making breakfast early and packing the kidâs lunch. He gets to spend a lovely fatherly moment with the child and talking to them about whatever interests them or being their secretive accomplice.
Who goes to parent teacher conferences: Rube. He always insists that only one of them should go because he doesnât want the kid bullied by homophobes at school. And since he can handle tense situations better than Jaklan, well, heâd rather have him stay at home and spend time with the kid.
Who will be the first to suggest to have âthe talkâ with the kid(s): Jaklan. Heâs the one who drives the kid to school and who stays at home spending time with them while Rube is at school reunions, so heâd be the first to notice when the kid starts to âget curiousâ. Rube is the one who starts the talk, tho.
Who would choose their child(s) prom outfit: Jack again! Rube entirely trusts him in that aspect and thoroughly encourages this by telling him that, if it was for him, heâd let them go to prom in jeans and a shirt if thatâs what they wanted. So Jack takes the kid shopping and Rube tags along, looking confused 85% of the time and âI dunno why you both say the blue one looks better than the green one but ok.â
Who would cry when the kid(s) go off to college: Jack is the emotional one here again, and Rube comforts him in all the ways he can. But secretly heâs sad too and you can tell because at night he clings to Jack again even when itâs 35°C in summer.
