A farewell to this fandom (maybe).

(also i’m being a bit melodramatic but yeah)

Alright this is more of a rant if anything. This is my final piece of art ill draw for inuyasha (if the dreaded ship is confirmed tomorrow). I made this as a vent piece because honestly my perception of inuyasha was changing. Sesshomaru and rin were near and dear to my heart ,heck, the show was near and dear to my heart. Rumiko Takahashi is the reason began drawing, I still remember what inspired me was the ads before inuyasha played saying ‘the most influential female comic artist’. I looked up to her used her stories as a backdrop for some of mine, and it hurts to see what its become. 

This was my comfort fandom, I could ignore shippers because I think you should be able to ship whatever you want. But there are always spaces where you could view something as familial and it was equally ok. 

Truthfully I have problematic faves, i have problematic ships, but i don’t try to justify them. I use most of this ships as writing inspo, trauma support, or even just art inspo. (for example i ship or*chimaru and k*buto which is all kinds of messed up--i censored their names to keep that fandom out of this mess). Ship whatever you want but it disturbs me the amount of victim blamy logic ppl use to justify it. A lot of “she chose”,”she could’ve left”,”he gave her and option”,”she seduced him”. Many of this arguments are used irl against victims, and it mind boggles me to see how people think thats okay.

Ship whatever you want I don’t care, but don’t harass people who disagree with you, who interpret relationships differently than you. And at least understand that your ship is problematic and how justifying can hurt real people.

I don't know where I’m going with this rant, but I had to say something.

So I drew this to try to get the way I used to view their relationship back. Because found family is the best trope. I recommend other people in the fandom do this to regain some sanity. Write wholesome found family fanfiction, draw wholesome sesshomaru and rin art it helped me. Also it’s based on this pic below thx for reading my rant. But...idk..it just felt weird. I personally think she should have ended up with Kohaku because Sesshomaru just screams father-figure to me.

They should have found a way to ressurect Kagura as a human. She wouldn't remember much about her past life and tries to start over. Sesshomaru and her would have definitely grown closer without Naraku being in the mix.

That's just my personal take on canon sessrin.
