A/N: Hereās my firstĀ āDear Somebody,ā! It seems utterly pretentious and low-key creepy because I wrote it for somebody for which Iāve newly developed feelings of infatuation. Regardless, Iām (kind of) proud of it, though Iām sure it could be a bit more poetic. My romance muscles need a bit of a stretch. Anyway, here it is! (btw, I may be writing multiple for the same person(s))
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I appreciate you. I see you all the time, probably with a million things on your mind. I see you speed down the hallway to your next destination, without a thought devoted to the girl admiring you from five feet away. My longing for you was sudden, and came out of nowhere. However, I knew from the moment I saw you that one day I could be hopelessly infatuated with you. Iāve never handled feelings well, particularly those of the romantic kind. I know how this goes: I fall for you, you never notice me, I make no efforts to change that, you find someone else or we never see each other again. Time and time again, I have yearned for the affections of someone who can barely see me.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I worry that Iām invisible to you. Weāve made good conversation a couple of times, but what I desire extends deeper beyond the shallows of small talk. I wish to know you, your feelings, your thoughts. I want to get lost in your mind and for you to never want me to leave. I know you have your friends, and I have mine, and for now, we are nothing more than decently acquainted spirits roaming a shared space at the crossroads of the rest of our lives. I can only hope that I can walk the path a little further with you, and I dread the day that the road will diverge and my time to get to know you will be up.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā This is not a profession of love, for I have not spent the time with you required to be in that deep. However, you make me smile, even if you donāt know it, and I have been pondering on the idea of what it would be like to share something with you. I do think that one of these lonely days, my feelings will reach an unbearable intensity. Already when I see you, my cheeks flush and my heart races a little.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The heart is not fair in the war of love and affection. I did not choose this. I didnāt choose to feel this way for you, because I know better than that. Had I chosen to feel this way willingly, I would have been choosing to have my heart broken by yet another boy with a kind heart, gentle smile, and soothing voice.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Perhaps I romanticize you too much. This is clearly the early honeymoon stage of a textbook infatuation. I will eventually learn of some of your flaws, or little things that are supposed to turn me off, but I will probably ignore them, or learn to love them. Thereās no better way to phrase it: I like you, or perhaps the idea of you. My knowledge of you sits on the surface, patiently waiting for a breakthrough. Until then, you will be on my mind and in my thoughts, and I will remain hopeful that one of these days you will want to know me too.
