Jada walked up to the stage, biting down on the fleshy insides of her lip as Elliot spoke about her. Through her bad nerves, she managed to get on the stage and take the microphone from him. “What’s up, y’all?” She greeted the crowd, laughing nervously as she spoke. “A little birdie told me I should give this music thing a try. They’re not even here to night, but I thank them dearly. My girls Kateri and Lauren told me to be sexy in my first try. Those who know me knows that I am a tomboy, but I think I pulled it off,” she laughed once again, smiling brightly as she pulled the microphone away from her lips for a second to look back at the screen. “Without further delay, with a little help from the Vevo team, I present to you... my new song and video, Me U & Hennessy.”

“How much do I owe you?” The male asked after giving Jada back her rounded mirror with the long handle to view his new haircut. “Just fifteen,” she replied nicely, taking the mirror from the guy before placing it on the assigned hook at her station. “You don’t mind if I take a picture, do you?” Jada inquired, digging her phone out of her pocket only once he shook his head to answer no. With a few quick snaps, she captured the low all over styled haircut with her own creative designs etched into his hair starting from the waves that swam on top of his scalp to the artsy lining going down his right side, ending with a star at the bottom of his head by his ear. Once she was finished, she took the twenty dollar bill from the male and proceeded to give him his change back, stopping once she heard “Keep the change. See you next time, J,” in which she replied with a smile and a wave as she watched his tall figure walk out of the barbershop. Jada placed the twenty dollar bill in her pocket, then grabbed the broom in the far corner of the barbershop, tuning out her father and the rest of the male workers as they ranted about the latest basketball game while she swept the bits of hair from around the various stations. “I’m going on a food run, do y'all want anything?” She asked with a raised voice, sweeping the hair into a dustpan and taking note of the random orders thrown out at her as she dumped the hair in the large trashcan. She put the broom back in its place, then traveled to her station to collect her things, pulling her purse over her shoulder. “I’ll be back in thirty minutes with all of that,” she informed them, taking the collection of money for the men’s food before she made her way out of the shop to go retrieve everything they asked for as well as what she wanted to eat.
