JacquelineBÂ :Â Good morning, this is Jacqueline B on having an impact.Â
We don't realise sometimes the impact we're having on other people when we just do what we do, be who we are, say what we say, connect in the way that we connect. I've had a couple of instances over the last two days where people have offered me feedback, feedback on the impact I've had on their lives. In one particular instance I was offered feedback on how I'd impacted on a number of people. I'll tell you the story.
I go to a networking group called BoB Clubs. They have a ten minute speaker, one of the people in the group, one of the members, speaks every other week on their business or anything they want to speak on. I used my ten minute slot to talk about my background, talk about how I came into building the coaching business and what I'd done previously. I confess that this wasn't my own idea, I was given this idea by a good colleague, a friend of mine, she encouraged me to do that and I did that. That has got to be three months ago and I saw somebody yesterday and she said, "People are still talking about that, and about the idea of doing that". So, people changed their ten minute slots and started talking about their background and how they got to where they got to and why they're there, and what inspires them, rather than pitching their business.Â
So, from that one comment to me by that lady, to me taking the action and putting that in place, has then impacted many other people, and in fact the structure and the set up of how the ten minutes run. That fascinates me, because that wasn't my intention, my intention was it be good for people to know why I'm in business, and I've got more credentials than just "I read a book once and decided to become a coach"!
How amazing is that?
