Praedor, episode 0
I haven't been blogging as much about the games I'm in as I used to, partly because I left our Rogue Trader campaign. To compensate for that, I decided I'll blog about Praedor instead, a Finnish sword and sorcery rpg we just started yesterday.
-- Here's a short introduction for you: A long time ago, the world of Praedor and the mortal kind were ruled over by powerful and immortal sorceror kings, wielders of near infinite power... or that's what they thought about themselves at least, until the very magics they had used to shape their world tore it to pieces. This place is what is now known to the mortals and the few remaining sorcerors as Borvaria, an endless ruined city of massive proportions filled with monsters and rampant arcane forces. At the heart of Borvaria lies Jaconia, an untainted collection of mortal kingdoms, a shard of a broken world and the homeland of our heroes - praedors. In short, praedors are treasure hunters. They come from all walks of life. Some have descended from a noble bloodline, some may be outlaws on the run while others might just be peasants tired of working the fields, but they all share a common goal. They all seek to venture into the terrifying realm of Borvaria, and to make a living by selling ancient artefacts and riches they've found there. Some make a name for themselves, gain great wealth and live a life of comfort after years of adventuring. Others end up in some monster's belly, fall prey to the traps left behind by ancient sorcerers, or worse. That's about all you need to know about the game, I think. Let me introduce our party. The party consists of five characters, fifth of which will be introduced later on. There's Borg, a handsome young thief on the run from the law who seeks to help the poor of his home town by working as a preador. Then there's Hoth, our cynical ranger and veteran adventurer with years of experience and nothing better to do. Then there's our cowardly knight Fredrik, the youngest son of a nobleman trying to fund his extravagant lifestyle and to make a name for himself. Finally, there's my character Hradnar, who's also a knight. He seeks to make enough money to take his beloved back from her unworthy bethrothed, one way or another.
(Then there's our alchemist, who I can't introduce at this point because our fifth group member didn't have his character done by the time we started playing)
Sorry for not giving more detailed descriptions, but at this point I don't know much about the other characters, and going on and on about mine alone would feel silly.
-- In my next rpg post I'll tell you what happened during our first session. It won't take long.Ā
