Again, thank you so, so much for the support and love that you’ve given my blog!  I hope you guys enjoy these stories.  These come from various books that I’ve read, and I hope you guys like them.  Again, thank you so much for the continuous love and support here! 1.“When we reached Newport late that evening after the long drive from Boston, I had my first meeting with Jacqueline Bouvier. Shortly after Jack and I had reached the house, she came down in a bathrobe and slippers. Her wide-eyed beauty, her grace and quiet ease of manner caused me to show her unusual deference for someone in her early twenties…With all her sophistication, she couldn’t conceal her love for Jack. Because I was there, Jack was a little self-conscious. After giving her a relatively quick kiss and embrace, he turned, partly breaking the embrace, and said, ‘Jackie, this is Red Fay.’ We went into the kitchen for a glass of milk and freshly baked chocolate-covered pan cake. While we ate and talked, Jacqueline would reach for Jack’s arm or hand, and speak with great delight of their coming marriage. She laughed. She almost sang. She did all the things a young, beautiful girl does when she is in love and the man she loves is with her. The Senator, who was then thirty-six, tried to appear casual about all the affection coming his way, but obviously was thoroughly enjoying every second.”

2. One night, Jackie drifted over to Jack’s bedroom wearing a diaphanous (see-through) nightgown and saw her husband lying on the bed and talking-or so she thought-on the phone. “I’d been in and out of there all evening,” recalled Jackie, who ran toward husband’s bed only to have him wave her away. “Get out! Get out!” JFK shouted. When she turned, Jackie realized that owlish, stiff collared McGeorge Bundy was standing there. “Poor Puritan Bundy,” she laughed, “to see a woman running in her night gown. He threw both hands over his eyes.” Another night, the president and First Lady awoke to see a sheepish Bundy standing at the foot of the bed with an urgent cable.

3.  This story, is sort of twisted from book to book.  Some say it was during the day, but while this source says that it happened at night.  I posted it here regardless because I thought that it was fitting. ”Perhaps last night had been her last truly private time with her husband.  After a busy day, she had turned in for the night but couldn’t sleep.  Later, she would remember, something didn’t feel right to her.  Something was very wrong, in fact.  She needed Jack, she wanted him to hold her in his arms.  So, as she would later remember it, she let herself into her husband’s room at about 2 A.M., slipped into his bed, and roused him from a sound sleep.  Then, after making love, husband and wife fell asleep in each other’s arms.”  (Jackie Ethel Joan, Women of Camelot)  

4.” They bounded into the helicopter and I waited to see the steps drawn up.  Instead, the President unexpectedly reappeared in the doorway and descended the steps alone.  How unusual, I though.  Then I saw why.  Jackie, her hair wild in the gale of the rotors, was running from the South Portico across the grass.  She almost met him at the helicopter steps and she reached up with her arms. They stood motionless in an embrace for many seconds.  Perhaps no one else noted that rare demonstration of affection. A few days later in the publicized hours of the Cuban Missile Crisis, I remembered it.  I thought of its deep significance- the un-breakable bond of love between them that showed clearest in times of trouble.”

5. “But Ketchum and his crew were preparing to straighten out the rooms and return them to their former majestic grandeur, Jackie realized she couldn’t resist one more hoax.  “I want to play a trick on Jack,” she said.  She found the President, escorted him to the Lincoln Room, and said, “I just wanted you to see what we’re doing here, Jack.”  “Jackie, no!” a bewildered JFK exclaimed.  “Not again.  You already did the Lincoln Room.  When is this going to end?”  Jackie broken into a grin, then into convulsive laughter.  “The two of them laughed themselves silly,” recalls Jim Ketchum.
