Darren turns on his back, letting out a sigh.

“-‘ry much.”

“But how much?”

“Um?”

“How muuuuch?”

“More than- more than…”

Darren lets out a loud snore.

Darren walks into Chris’ office.

“You posted this?”

Darren sounds frustrated.

Chris grins.

“Did you sleep well?”

“Christopher Paul Colfer.”

“What, Darren Everett Criss?”

Chris’ smug expression makes Darren want to wipe it off with a kiss.

Darren sighs.

“I love you, you sneaky little bugger. But, for the record, I love sleep more. ”

He slides into Chris’ lap and wraps arms around his neck.

“Good. Because then we’d have a problem.”

“What?”

“I definitely love sleep more than you.”

“Ouch. Well, at least I wasn’t an asshole about it.”

Darren’s fingers slide through Chris’ hair at the nape of his neck.

“Fine. I love sleeping with you?”

“I love fucking with you, too.”

"Shit," Chris shoots up from the couch and starts pacing, biting his lip, his eyes going wide around the room, as if searching for the solution.

"Shit, shit, shit..."

Chris knows exactly where Darren's ring is.

It's at Tiffany's.

Because Chris is an idiot who doesn't know his boyfriend's ring size. (One would think he would have learned during all these years.) That's why he took one of Darren's rings - the silver one because it was the closest in shape to the one he wanted to buy - to give it to the boutique to take measurements. It was going to take only a day; tomorrow morning Chris would have come back for it before going to work and Darren would have been as clueless as ever. It was a perfect plan, honestly. If only Chris would have taken into account this.

"No, I haven't! Maybe you can just wear the green one?" Chris pleads half-shouting, already halfway down the corridor to their bedroom.

"But it doesn't go with this outfit..."

Chris braces himself and walks into the room, mentally shaking off the nerves. Be calm.

He sees Darren looking down at his pants with a fallen face.

"Maybe you can change them?"

Darren looks at him strangely.

"You sure you haven't seen my ring?"

God, Chris can't do this. They don't lie to each other, notwithstanding the worth of the surprise. It's Darren's favorite ring, Chris can't break his heart, even until tomorrow.

Chris sights and rubs his face. "Yes, I have. Please... Just don't ask any more questions." He tries to make his eyes water a tiny bit, just for the effect.

Darren is still and silent. Chris sucks in a breath. Then slowly, Darren grins - first with his eyes, then with his teeth.
