my first love i am sharing with you all is my baby aj clarkson. aj had a tough childhood, alcoholic and abusive father, drug addicted mother, but through it all he stayed strong for his little sister. he essentially raised her, given the crap parents they had, even though he was just a young boy, and despite all the horrors of their childhood, he never lost who he was for his sister. long story short (you can read the long story later on when you read his app :P) eventually they were separated and his sister was placed into foster care while aj spent some time in juvie. eventually he got out, went back to working hard, saving up money, and eventually got custody of his sister when he turned 18.

he hasn't always used legal means to make ends meet, and has been in jail multiple times for street racing, boosting cars, selling stolen parts, and most recently assault, although his last offense was over three years ago now. while his record gives one picture of him, a lost soul who lives on the more dangerous and less ethical side of the law, at times it was simply aj doing what he needed to help himself, and even more importantly, his sister survive. despite being aware of what he was doing was wrong, in his minds, the ends justified the means, and his sister being able to go to college on the west coast made it all worthwhile to him. through it all, he always sheltered her as best he could from his wayward ways.

as he grew into an adult, and his sister left town to start her own life, the pressures of being the provider and care taken came off, and he began to truly live for the first time. he partied, slept around, and generally lived his life as though there was no tomorrow. he learned early in life that caring for people only set you up to be hurt, and as such avoided any real connections with people. he didn't do relationships, he did sex. he did friendship, but only to a certain point. he put himself first for the first time in his life and didn't really care if that mean sleeping with his buddies girlfriend.

now that he is thirty one, aj's life has mellowed out to a certain extent, and this is partially because as he grew older, he finally made some real connections in his life that he couldn't ignore. he has some fierce friends who have taught him how to slightly start to let people into his life, although he still always puts on a front, trying to act tougher than he is. he has even found love although it scares him to no end, and he can't admit his feelings to her yet, even though she is eight months pregnant with his kid. the fact he is going to be a dad scares him out of his mind, as he has never wanted kids, always fearing that he is too much like his dad.

series overview: the series is set in new york city and it regularly follows the public and private life of dinah laurel lance. it is also set directly after the death of her husband oliver queen. the first season follows dinah and her effort to pick herself back up after losing oliver as well as finding the will to continue on crime fighting. the first season is known for heavy use of flashbacks depicting dinah and ollie in happier times, as well as the time dinah met her death courtesy of the joker and her subsequent resurrection via the lazarus pit. the first season features the promotion of the huntress into a main character at the second half of the season.

the second season reintroduces the audience to ted "wildcat" grant, the trainer of dinah in her formative years now turned rogue assassin. it also features the rise of the secret six a group of deadly assassins aiming to strike on the birds of prey and the city. this season is noted for the ongoing, highly publicized and much teased romance of huntress and black canary.

"canary" begins production in it's third season on july 20th, 2015.

main characters:

BLACK CANARY / DINAH LANCE QUEEN: a young meta human born with an ultra-sonic super power. she's widely considered to be among the best hand to hand combat fighters in the world. known for her street smart attitude, toughness and good nature, the motor cycle driving crime fighter is shown to have a darker edge to her since being resurrected via the lazarus pit at the hands of the joker. she is the co-leader of birds of prey as well as the best friend of barbara gordon/oracle though there's now tension between the two thanks to the complicated relationship both have with nightwing/dick grayson. she is the widow of oliver queen/green arrow. she, along with the rest of BoP, maintain their public identities. she's the owner of a florist shop that she owned with her late husband "sherwood florist". dinah is in her late 20s. she is a conventional beauty: blonde, lithe and gorgeous. the show makes an effort to keep a lot of the camp from the comics so she does not adopt an official "black canary" costume but the color blue, as well as leather, is carefully inserted into her wardrobe normally. dinah sometimes uses her sex appeal to achieve gain her way. she is played by KATERINA FORCE.

ORACLE / BARBARA GORDON: barbara is the daughter of james and barbara gordon and she is the co-leader of the birds of prey with dinah. she is a gifted metahuman, blessed with a photographic memory that helps aids the group on its mission. she is kind hearted and sensitive in contrast to her tough talking best friend. she is also the long time love interest of nightwing/dick grayson. in the season one finale dick takes a bullet intended for barbara, shot by savant/brian durlin. though he was able to recover from his wounds, he lost his memories. she is the first technical member of the birds of prey and her public identity is librarian at a new york city library. barbara is in her late 20s. she is not a conventional beauty. she has dark hair, wears glasses and lots of sweaters. on missions that call for stealth, she removes the librarian look and glams it up. unlike her comic counterpart, barbara is not wheelchair bound but she is asthmatic. she's often described as "cute". she is played by --------- .

NIGHTWING / DICK GRAYSON: long time (childhood) friend to oliver queen, dinah lance and barbara gordon dick grayson is the crime fighting vigilante known as nightwing. he and green arrow enjoyed a partnership until the death of the green arrow. he is not a metahuman but a skilled martial artist with at least ten different styles of combat in his arsenal. he is the long time love interest of barbara gordon/oracle until taking a bullet for her in the season one finale. much of season two explores his amnesia as well as his new found attraction to dinah. the pre emulate episode revealed that dick remembers more than he has let on. he is also the secret older brother the late lady blackhawk/zinda blake. dick is in his late 20s. he is tall, dark and handsome. he has dangerous good looks mixed with mysterious allure. he's incredibly athletic and often stoic thanks to the amnesia. so an actor with a great stare is desired here he is played by ---------.

HUNTRESS / HELENA BERTINELLI: gun toting, sassy and vicious, helena is initially introduced as foil to dinah. only meant to be a recurring character, she proved to be a fan favorite for the series as well as much needed comic relief. quality and care went into the back story of helena, giving highlight on her past as a mafia princess and the absolute darling of her family until they were all gunned down (helena included) leaving only the thirteen year old helena surviving. she is the only birds of prey member without any meta human abilities; though she is an excellent marksman. trained by lady shiva, huntress follows in her trainer's assassin footsteps too. the coming out of the character in early season one was a critical moment in the series as well as one of the highest rated episodes of canary history. in season two she is shown to harbor strong feelings towards dinah. the media attention on the much favored / would be couple is dubbed "hunter canary". helena is in her mid 20s. she's sexy, classic and charming. favors more of a feminine look, skirts never pants, to a more modern one. she's tall and vivacious. she is played by ------ ARDEN

DOVE / DAWN GRANGER: the only other member of the birds to have survived the lazarus pit, dove is the only member of the team who did not inherit her meta human powers via the meta gene. she gifted with super strength, speed and durability. she is the go to woman for any and all stealth missions. dove was not actually shown in the series until the second season finale but she was mentioned as far back as season one. she was noted for being one of the only beings known to survive the lazarus pit prompting dinah to locate her and track her. she is expected to be front and center for the third season. she is the newest member of the birds of prey team, taking over the position left by the late lady blackhawk. dawn is in her early 20s. she is the youngest birds of prey member. she's known to dress stylish but more reflective of her youthful generation. she has short hair and is very athletic. like barbara, she is known to downplay her feminine appeal. she is played by ------ .

JADE CANARY / LADY SHIVA / SANDRA WU-SAN: season one's main antagonist. she is the assassin for hire responsible for training and later employing huntress/helena bertinelli to assassinate dinah lance. she is also identified in the season one finale as the murderer of oliver queen/green arrow. she is tough, deadly and dedicated and revealed to be a star member of the league of assassins. she is defeated by the birds of prey in the season finale. jade canary is not killed but imprisoned in arkham and continues to make regular appearances in the series via flashbacks typically with huntress. the first spoiler of the new season (third season) suggests her freedom of arkham is imminent. sandra is in her late 30s. she is clear cut gorgeous, asian and very spry. she is known to favor a more classic style of wardrobe, wearing just whatever is vital for the situation. she is also fiercely athletic. she is played by --------

DEADSHOT / FLOYD LAWTON: season two's main antagonist. he is the de facto leader of secret six and the one responsible for lady blackhawk's death. he is the world's deadliest assassin and marksman. he boasts never having missed a shot. through flashbacks it is suggested he and is also one of green arrow's most reviled enemies. he is responsible for most of the antics in season 2 and is largely responsible for helping his secret six cohorts escape justice. only four of them have appeared on screen so far, season 3 is expected to reunite all six. he is also in a secret relationship with poison ivy / dr. pamela isley who is also expected to play a bigger role in season 3. floyd is in his early 40s. very gruff, masculine and athletic. he is blind in one eye but fitted with a scope laser eye patch. he is bald and tall and looks absolutely menacing. he is played by ----------- .

recurring characters:

SAVANT / BRIAN DURLIN: like the name suggests, savant is a certified genius. he is also certifiably insane. he's depicted as a rich and spoiled brat at first but his character evolves to highlight more of his troubled qualities. he has an unhealthy obsession with barbara gordon; the obsession growing to the point where he kidnaps her and tortures her in season one. he attempts to kill her in the season finale but his bullet missed, hitting dick grayson instead. he is sent to arkham in season one and appears in two episodes in season 2. ------------- .

ARSENAL / RED ARROW / ROY HARPER JR.: childhood friend to dick grayson and uncanny marksman with a bow and arrow. he appears scarcely throughout season two to help support dick through his amnesia. he is rumored to play a bigger role in season 3. roy is in his early - mid 20s. he has a very beach boy classic look to him, bright blonde hair and toned and athletic. he favors the color red a lot too. he is played by -----------.

POISON IVY / DR. PAMELA ISLEY: secret eco-terrorist, she is usually shown at sherwood florist. she is attempting a cover as a botanist working with dinah, but she is revealed to be an affiliate (and lover) to floyd lawton. she too is rumored to play a bigger role in season 3. pamela is in her mid - late 30s. known for her penchant for green and defining bright red hair, she's sexy and camp and definitely countable for part of the series main sex appeal. she's described as cute and vibrant with a killer smile. she is played by --------- .

LADY BLACKHAWKE / ZINDA BLAKE: BoP's youngest member but perhaps pure old soul, she is new to new york and initially in search of the family that had given her up for adoption. she is known for her natural athletic athletic prowess. she was the only other BoP member without any known meta human abilities and now because of being deceased that title is solely allocated to huntress. she is killed within the late half of season two and she died without knowing her familial connection to nightwing/dick grayson. she is the first main character to be killed off the series. though she is dead she is expected to make an appearance via flashback sometime in season 3. she is played by ------- .

BAT GIRL / CASSANDRA CAIN: recurring BoP ally set to debut in early season 3. she is the crime fighting daughter of lady shiva and weapons trader david cain. she was orphaned at age six when her father was murdered; her mother a non existent part of her life early on. she is taken in by bruce wayne / batman. she takes over the bat mantle when bruce wayne goes missing. cassandra is in her early 20s. she is short but very athletic and toned. gorgeous green eyes and skin; she is of asian decent. she is played by -------- .

GREEN ARROW / OLIVER QUEEN: never billed higher than a recurring character although he appeared in every episode of the first season. he is the deceased husband of dinah lance queen/black canary and is regularly shown in flashbacks. he is crime fighting super hero green arrow largely responsible for keeping the streets of new york safe until his death. though he only appears in three episodes in season 2 (via flashbacks) he is rumored to appear heavily in the first half of the third season though through flashbacks or in current setting remains to be seen. he is played by --------- .

extras:

canary has regular guest stars dropping by filling solo episode arcs. there's also quite a few local new york musicians passing through and performing on the show. as always there are extras off in the background getting paid for their efforts.
