Night of Iyomante (J-pop)
I had a chance to listen to this song because I liked Kiriko Kubo (manga artist) who had a serialization in Big Comic Spirits, and it certainly sounded interesting. Iyomante is a ritual handed down by the Ainu people, which is solemnly performed to hunt and slaughter a bear to return its soul to the realm of the gods. The composer was Yuji Koseki（古関裕而）, a composer whose talent was unmatched even by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

ビッグコミックスピリッツに連載を持っていた玖保キリコさん（漫画家）が好きだというので、この曲を聴く機会があったが、たしかに面白い音だった。イヨマンテというのは、アイヌ民族に伝わる儀式で、熊を狩り、屠ることでその魂を神界に返すという趣旨で、厳かに行われる。作曲者は古関裕而で、坂本龍一でさえ及ばない才能を持っていた作曲家である。
