ohhhh THANK YOU! happy new year, have some fire escape revelations from eddie pov :)

Steve speaks slowly, intentionally. "For what it's worth... I don't agree. So, I think you are what he's looking for." Eddie feels his everything tilt. Steve eyes are dark when they meet. It's his usual schtick—saying one thing, meaning something else. But now, it's like the letter was the fucking decoder and he can see the truth as it is. Right in front of him. "That's... that's neither here nor there." His voice sounds weak, even to him. Steve reaches out and pulls on his wrist, fingers curling in a way that's familiar. Tightening like he can sense his hesitation, voice soft but clear, no question. No hiding from it. "It's here. Trust me."

"You don't," Eddie says in a rush. "Wish you'd talk more."

And in a hypocritical move, he kisses him again immediately after saying so. He likes this little alcove, tucked away from everything so Steve stays open. To him, to this. He steps between Steve's legs, slightly bent so Eddie has to hunch to kiss down his neck.

Steve must be in a good mood, extra pliable, letting him mess up his hair and pulling it to the side; he makes that surprised sound again when Eddie kisses his neck properly. He likes it. Likes kissing down past where his collar usually sits, Steve jolting when he does it.
