I wanted to update tomorrow cause it's my birthday but i'm so behind schedule that i don't think i'll be able to ;-;
Most characters of IYKSFM have some degree of awareness, especially Molly.
She knows that she is part of a story written by someone else (hi! That's me!) and that she has no choice in any of what happens. Not only that but she is also aware of the canon story. She is somewhat conscious of how the story is supposed to go and that only aggravates her suffering. She knows it's all twisted and wrong, and not at all how the story should be, and that knowledge is all useless since she is trapped in this version. Molly also feels the reader, not in a directly breaking the fourth wall kinda way but more in a subtle "i know you're there, reading this, watching me" kinda way.
On the second chapter (NO SPOILERS) Molly does something horrible and very uncomfortable of watching in front of a side character hoping that they would stop her or at least call her out of it. She is also doing it for the reader and it was very difficult to write in hopes that is was also equally hard to read, it's meant to be uncomfortable precisely because the side character watches and does nothing, but at the same time, the reader is also watching and doing nothing to stop her suffering.
Since Molly is slightly aware of the existence of the canon BBC Sherlock (although she considers it to be another universe or another life she dwels upon while overthinking) until S3 because were are all going to ignore the existence of S4, that means she somewhat knows all that is about to happen. She knows about what happens at The Reichenbach Fall, not fully, but she does have an itch under her skin and dreads what will happen, and this will only aggravate as the story goes on and the Fall is closer. It's like one of those greek tragedies in which the knowledge of the end does not save the characters from its fatality.
It's frustrating to her because the last chapters of this fic have already been writen. Sure it does take me a loooong time to update but the ending is done, all done, nothing she does, nothing she decides or acts upon will change the ending.
