small rant time. i dont like the idea of claudia being seen as biracial just because lestat is white. at the end of the day louis saves her from one of the black neighborhoods in town being burned down for his crime. she is fully black. it is crucial to her story that she is black. from how she is treated in public both in the u.s and in france. and how louis, the only person she really has, who is pretty clear about his awareness of being creole and its culture and privileges, even he treats her different. im saying this as a mixed girl, claudias experiences and characterization are inherently black and different from everyone else around her. i think if there is anything crucial to her characters representation it is that she is the ONLY black female vampire that most anyone else has met (akasha isnt back yet) and she is treated VERY differently from louis who speaks (some) french and uses his approximation to french people as a way to get by. every time someone says s1 claudia was a better casting because she looked like a mix of louis and lestat (yall act like they birthed her) i think about beating their ass cause can yall let ONE black girl not get turned mixed???? like im so sick and tired of this zendaya style casting ass shit
