A battle with a necromancer, a sword through her chest, and a wound she couldn’t heal.

“You will not go further.” Ivris said, her stance firm and her eyes narrowed dangerously. She was standing before Yuura, a deadly necromancer from Bariura, who joined the Oracle Knight Ark on his quest the very god Ivris was employed to protect. By duty, she had to kill him.

But it was easier said than done. With his powers, if he died, he could revive himself over and over again. With Ivris’ powers, she could heal herself as many times as needed. Yuura needed a decisive killing blow, and Ivris needed to destroy his body. They were at a bitter stalemate.

But then Ark, the Oracle Knight himself, came to Yuura’s aid. Together, Ivris was outmatched, and it ended with Ark’s blade of light thrust through her body. He withdrew, and Ivris fell dully to the ground, eyes wide and gasping for help.

As Ivris lay there dying, she stared at the dreary, starless sky of Ishgria, the last thing she could remember was the Meirith Guardians’ leader, Quaid, cradling her, wiping the blood from her lips and the tears from her eyes.

“I-I’m sorry...” She murmured, voice gurgling from the blood filling her throat. She reached up to touch his face. “I failed the Meirith Guardians... I failed... you.”

Quaid only smiled sadly, lightly grabbing her hand and placing it on his cheek. His face was warm, soft, without a blemish. “You didn’t fail anyone, Ivris, me least of all. You fought valiantly, fighting off hordes of demons and a necromancer to a standstill. I’m so proud of you.”

The tears only welled up further, overwhelmed with emotion. “Q-Quaid...” She started, voice wavering. Up until now, she had feared nothing. Her, sister, demons, and the Oracle Knights. But now, the only emotion she could feel was fear. “I-I’m scared...! I don’t want to die!”

“Shh...” He cooed, nuzzling his cheek into her hand. “I know, I know... I’ll stay with you. Until the very end.”

She was able to stop her hysterics long enough to reach the necklace around her neck and rip it off, placing it into the hand Quaid was using to support the hand on his cheek. “Take this... a piece of me... please... win...” She drew one last, shaky breath, before she passed on.
