A Battle of Quips || itwasfunnyright
It was a night like any other... well, aside from the torrential downpour. Peter had popped into the city earlier in the evening to do some crime fighting and grab a hot dog at his favorite food cart. He was feeling good. School had just ended and he was now officially a college student, he didn't trip as he walked across the stage to receive his diploma, and best of all, he could stay out as late as he wanted without worrying about sleeping through class the next day. Yep, this was gonna be a good summer... except for the massive amount of debt he was about to put himself in, but he'd worry about that later.
The rain had started maybe thirty minutes ago, just after Peter had... helped an old lady cross the street. Okay, so the whole superhero thing wasn't always all it's cracked up to be, but the way traffic worked in that city, sometimes little old ladies could use a super assist. Pete felt the first drops as he was swinging to one of his usual haunts, in search of something a little more interesting to do. Quickly, the light drizzle evolved into a full-blown storm, soaking anyone who'd foolishly forgotten to bring an umbrella, such as himself, and lighting up the sky in flashes of blue. Normally, Peter loved thunderstorms. The way they looked, the way they sounded, and especially the smell that lingered in the grass the next morning. Tonight, however, he was less than thrilled. The fact he hadn't brought any protection against the rain was only a small part of it, his main issue was with losing an entire night's work because the bad guys had no one to prey on since all of the regular people didn't want to be out in the rain.
As Peter swung himself to a fire escape with a small overhang and started removing one of his shoes to dump the small pond that had filled it, something caught his eye. Right across the street, a man in an all-black, probably spandex, suit was scaling the side of a skyscraper. "Well... that's weird." He mumbled, ignoring the fact that he did the same thing on a daily basis. Pausing to finish dumping the rivers out of his shoes and finger-comb his hair out of his face before pulling his mask back on, Pete made his way over to the dark figure.
"Now, I couldn't help but notice that whatever you're doing looks awfully suspicious." He commented as he caught up to the man. Now that he was closer, Pete could see the large suction cups secured to the hands and feet of of his potential criminal. Not exactly the best way to scale a building, but it seemed to be working, at least for now. "So, what are you? Suction Cup Man? Sergeant Stickums? Ooh! I got it! Admiral Adhesive!" Is he ignoring me? Peter had been lazily climbing up the building beside the man as he talked at him, but so far, no response. The man just kept climbing, he didn't even bother trying to attack the web head, something that anyone else he'd faced would've done the moment he opened his mouth. "You know, I'm just gonna keep talking until you answer me. I can do this all night! I've got nowhere else to be bud."
