Given the lack of any links in any of the hundreds of comments I scoured, I went with what the comments said. 

I’m not a big iTunes user myself. I’ve got it, but I go months - sometimes years - without touching it. Aside from the interface getting less and less intuitive (IMO) I haven’t had any actual issues with any update I’ve dealt with. 

Booting it up now, it tells me 12.2 is available (I’m currently on a Windows 7 desktop). And going on over to Google tells me:
