What film is this? Think I might be missing out

It’s the first episode of season one of Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here

Seb was only in the pilot episode, but it’s worth watching for him.

I’ve never heard of a man leaving their wife on her wedding day in a barn, not dressed, after her first time. They have different views on the fundamentals and can’t communicate, not good foundation. He ties her down for life, the second she agrees engagement and then runs off. He was also quite rough with her, outside as well. They went through the swinging sixties yet he is more old fashioned and set in his ways and she is too young and still at uni. I felt sorry he followed her in s4.

I don’t think that was the show writers intention, but that was how it came across.

I have never heard of a man doing that either - but then again, that’s the beauty of storytelling and fiction... To present stories and scenarios that can happen or could happen, and which may sound farfetched, different, and sometimes even disturbing and troubling. 

Poor Brianna and Roger have grown up in rather different societies and under different gender roles, and it is so sad how poorly they yet understand each other (after not really having spent that much time together), and in their hot-headedness say horrible things. To make matters worse, neither of them is mature enough to know when to shut up and let things cool down, instead of continuing to escalate the situation. I am sure many of us were squirming internally when they were shouting each other to ‘Leave, then!’ and ‘Go back then!’, thinking “Oh please you two, just shut up, don’t say anything more!” I know I did, at least!
