Im also a sucker for sparkling aus, so if you have any headcanons for that pls share!! the art of sparkling au signal echo was so cute
OUGHHHH taking the opportunity to think about this more because it was originally just a silly idea but now I get to actually think things ...
Firstly a lot of this would be really unrealistic but that's why it's all AU, I'm just having thoughts and being silly ... and secondly not much of Echo's actual story would change! Really the only change is everything happens much earlier than normal and Wheeljack finds Echo as an orphan during a battle and basically raises her as his own. Echo would be on their second upgrade when found, basically a toddler
Ok now to some headcanons:
Echo pretty much latched onto Wheeljack from the first moment he showed up to rescue her. They felt safe with him and Echo refused to be with anyone else for a while, not even a fellow Wrecker. Wheeljack wasn't sure how to deal with this LOL; he's just not used to sparklings really and y'know it doesn't really align with his Wrecker lifestyle
As a result of the last point, Wheeljack was often stuck having to watch the kid while the rest of the group went out and did their thing. At first he hated it cause he wanted to be out in the action, but after a while he couldn't help but realize he really wanted to protect this sparkling .... Echo had latched onto him for a reason after all
Echo was a very silent sparkling! They mostly "spoke" in gestures and actions, and many of the Wreckers began to worry something was wrong with their vocalizer (nothing was wrong; they eventually found their voice just before their last upgrade, even if Echo talks like Bumblebee does!)
Although unfortunately the first thing they said was "frag it all!" out of frustration at something. Wheeljack wasn't sure whether to be proud or mortified and he tried his damndest to stifle his laughter
Echo was absolutely terrified of Bulkhead at first, but he was also the Wrecker that Echo warmed up to the quickest! Partly because of Wheeljack and Bulkhead's friendship; the two hung out a lot and Echo just got comfortable with Bulkhead by proxy. He was also the first mech not named Wheeljack to make Echo happy :)
Echo could never recharge alone as a sparkling; Wheeljack always had to be holding them or else nightmares would occur. It only further increased Wheeljack's want to protect Echo
Whenever Wheeljack would practice with his swords, Echo could often be seen watching and copying him (much to his amusement)
When Echo went to their third upgrade, it gave them a large growth spurt. Wheeljack definitely wasn't salty about Echo being his height despite being merely a teenager. Not at all.
THANK YOU FOR THE ASKKKK this was so much fun actually ... again I never really thought further into this but now that I have I'm like. GRAHHHH I need to draw more now ...
