Em, be careful when you choose your Halloween costume. You don't want to become Jack's The Ripper victim. --A
♒ ) Despite the fact that the month of October had finally arrived, Halloween was the last thought on the young woman's mind. The night of tricks and treats was not one that was particularly liked anymore. People found it all too enjoyable to scare others around this time of year. Even in a town where enough thrills were experienced year round, this still held true. There was one reason in particular this holiday had long since lost its allure. Well, if one year could be considered long since that was. Those that ordinarily surprised people felt as if it was even more so fun to do so this month. They felt that the game needed to be stepped up. In particular, a particular team of destructive tormentors sought to dish out the most horrific surprises of all. A near death experience here and there. Maybe even a threat at the very least. Both were things that could be expected of the relentless group. That was mostly why no plans had been established for the night. Anything that was devised would surely fall to pieces due to the enemy. Besides, why celebrate when there was hardly anything worth celebrating?
The last reference was indeed puzzling. Then again, the fact that advice on selecting a costume was being provided was undeniably bizarre. It seemed as if assistance was actually being offered. Of course, that was not to say that this message held no element of danger. There was no doubt about the last half. It was a subtle, or not so subtle depending on how it was seen, threat. A promise of what was to come. Not necessarily the ultimate end, but definitely unwanted trouble. If only there was a way to reveal what was in store. Yet, that was nothing more than an empty wish. Something that even a fairy could not grant were one to magically appear. A was always so secretive about plans. Whether they were pending or in motion. After the near death experience, knowing that the now assumed to be male leader was still on the prowl and looking to do something of malicious intent on the night of festivities shattered any form of comfort that was unevenly being maintained. In fact, shoulders were quick to tense up as the text was reread once more. The confusion that had filled coffee colored hues remained. After all, this was one puzzle that would not be solved until the arrival of the actual night.
For now, Emily would act with even more caution. Look with more care when crossing the streets at night. Not be so trusting of newcomers. Maybe even go to a costume shop that was not in Rosewood or Ravenswood. Considering the amount of caution that had been taken as of late, that was most definitely saying something. It was an unarguably wise decision. At least, it would prove to be if the youth was not overly cautious. Too much of one thing was never a good thing. However, it was better to expect the unexpected. That way no feelings of surprise or shock would be formed. Not that it was that easy to predict what would come next. That was the thing about surprises.
They always changed.
