Object Type: Corrosive Injectable Artefact
ITEM Description: ITEM-089 is a collection of 25 syringes containing a pitch black liquid, of which only 18 syringes remain. The syringes are bronze colored, with a clear crystal that allows to see the unknown substance within it, black color, enough to look like a flat shape, absorbing 99.7% of light. The thumb rest has a black skull on it with liquid dripping from its eyes, though only the area of the eyes and nose is visible due to the size of the thumb rest. The needles are long, about 5cm long, with a protective red plastic on the tip of the needle, these plastics do not fit back in once taken off, and no other protector will work on the needle.
The syringes are very durable and sturdy, but surprisingly lightweight. The syringes themselves are quite big, with the size being comparable to a chalkboard eraser, and hold about 166 ml of the substance within, which has been dubbed “Stygros”. Once injection begins, the plunger does not come back until it has fully dispensed all of the substance, regardless if it has been injected on something or has just been poured out. The syringes become useless, weak and any attempt to re-use them ends with the crystal breaking, or leaking through the needle somehow, or malfunctions with the plunger.
The substance inside ITEM-089 is dark, somewhat viscous, yet seems perfectly capable of being injected through a needle into anything, the substance is noted to burn with touch, and very quickly eats through organic material. It is also noted to have a very foul smell, usually described either as rotten eggs, or “the smell you’d smell in a funeral near the body”.
The substance is highly corrosive, and will dissolve any organic matter it comes in contact with, including materials of organic origin like paper, silk and wool. The substance spreads and dissolves everything it comes through, melting matter into a dark black sludge, which retains the effects of the substance, though not as effective, and after enough material, the substance completely loses its effect, though it remains highly toxic and irritative. When injected into an organism, it will quickly spread through the entire body, rather than only affect an area, and quickly begin melting starting from the area of injection and spread outwards, usually spreading through blood vessels and such, meaning the substance usually works from within and outwards. There are no known survivors of this injection in any life-form, and it seems the time span it takes for the substance to spread is too fast to perform most operations to take off infected parts before a lethal spread, any individual injected is to be considered lost. The substance will prefer any form of tube and canals it can quickly go through like blood vessels, vascular plants, and anything similar, however, the injection is not commonly instantly lethal, subjects seem to be alive for some seconds before they are fully dissolved, even if essentially organs have been damaged, unless the injection was performed directly on the area of the heart or head. Contact with the substance carries the same results, though it doesn’t seem to have spreading behavior if it isn’t injected.
Individuals killed by the injection leave no remains, and all melt into a puddle of black sludge that is a mix of the original contents of the syringe, and the dissolved tissues of the the subject, cells are dead, a lot of them destroyed, the substance loses effectivity the more tissues it dissolves. It also seems able to spread more than its contents are worth, animal testing has revealed one injection is able to dissolve approximately 60% of an elephant’s biomass when injected.
Addendum #1 “Discovery”: The injections were discovered in China, being traded to the leader of a mob from the area, when intercepted by agents of the company. While originally thought to be drug dealing, we were contacted immediately when one of our agents, posing as a gangster, witnessed one of the syringes being used on a hostage as an example of their potency, which immediately frightened and disgusted the mob leader, and most of its gang. The meeting didn’t go much further, beyond a shoot out that ended when authorities, and FERNE personnel afterwards, arrived to resolve the situation.
The name of the mobsters involved and their backgrounds were investigated, a false case of drug dealing was made to not disclose the true nature of the incident, and they were charged with using corrosive acid as an execution method. No leads were ultimately found from the long line of mobsters who were trading to each other, only seemingly originating from a new disbanded mob group, whose identities are unknown, and seem to have disappeared soon after selling the product.
Note #1: As useful as these could be for dealing with dangerous anomalies, further testing should be done, these are essentially one hit kill injections, and we have a limited amount unless we find out how to replicate it, and whatever we should even try to replicate it, we should be cautious on how we use it.
Note #2: It is currently contained in Site-07, under supervision of Professor Avalanche.
