Alphys & Undyne's Surfing Day 

The summer days were in full swing, a wonderful time for lots of fun activities. Such as camping, hiking, picnics, and…...spending hot days indoors playing video games or ,for our dear, sweet Dr. Alphys, catching up on episodes of her favorite shows. Oh sure it was nice spending time in the sun but on some days it was nice to just chill especially when the heat was a bit much. So today Alphys took a page from Sans’ book and decided to kick back in front of the TV with a bowl of cheap ramen and watch her favorite anime.

And what better way to spend such a day than watching your favorite shows with your favorite person?  Undyne was chilling right next to her, throwing in little bits of commentary here and there. Part of why Alphys liked watching anime with Undyne so much was because she always found a way to make everything more exciting, no matter how exciting it already originally was.

Alphys was laughing along with Undyne as they were enjoying each other’s company. 

“Haha! Oh Undyne...I...I’m so glad you decided to binge on this anime marathon with me. It’s always more fun being a couch potato with someone else.” Alphys commented while slurping up some ramen noodles.

"Awwh it's no problem, Alphy, I've been wanting to catch up on my favorite shows as well. And of course...any reason to hang out with my gal.” Undyne laughed wrapping her arms around Alphys and bombarding her with a love noogie. Getting ramen all over the place in the process.

“AAHH!, UNDYNE ! You’re making a mess! We got noodles all over the floor again!” Alphys laughed some more. “Papyrus is NOT going be happy. He just cleaned the house earlier today!"

"Ooh whoops." Undyne chuckling herself as she calms down, the noogie turning into a cuddly hug. "We'll just blame it on his brother. Haha."

Alphys was still giggling feeling all giddy inside. Undyne always had a way of making her feel oh so happy. "Undyne, you know we can't keep using that excuse. We should clean it up." She noted as much as she was enjoying the cuddling.

"Nggaah! Fine! If you say sooooo." Undyne whining a bit as she got up to fetch the broom.

Alphys was about to give her a helping hand but ended up getting distracted by the show coming up next. It was a special summer edition of her very favorite anime "Mew Mew Kissy Cutie Goes to the Beach"! "OOOoh Oooh Undyne look!!! It's Mew Mew Kissy Cutie! It must be a new one I've never seen this one before!!" She cheered.

"Oooh neat! I was wondering if they were still making more "Mew Mew Kissy Cutie" that's awesome!" Undyne staring as she still held the broom in her hand for awhile too distracted to remember why she had it.

Alphys had the biggest, happiest smile on her face as her focus was glued to the TV. "Awwh they're going to the beach and playing in the sand and building a sandcastle! Ooh....wow..." Her voice going from giddy to intrigued. She watched as her favorite characters seemed to be magically riding the ocean..."I...I've never seen anyone do that before..is it magic?"

Undyne finally sweeping the mess before looking back at the TV. "Ooh I've seen that before. It's called "surfing". Humans stand on these really long boards and let the waves carry them to shore. I've actually done it a few times myself it's really awesome!"

"Surfing....it looks like a lot of fun....I wonder if I could....ha ah maybe not...." Alphys stopped herself as if too embarrassed to even think of such a thing.

"Huh..?" Undyne glancing over at her girlfriend catching the fascinated look Alphys had. "Hey, if you're really interested in trying out surfing go for it!" she encouraged.

"Oh no, no...I couldn't I don't...even know how....it was silly of me..." Alphys nervously commented before Undyne interrupted her.

"Ngah! Come on, Alphy! You can learn to surf if you want! Come on I'll teach you myself!" Undyne hurriedly finishes up cleaning their mess.

"What??! You mean right now?!" Alphys asked caught of guard by the sudden carpe diem moment.

"Yeah! Why not? Let's go surfing while the day is young!!" Undyne cheered. "I cleaned up the noodles so come on, Alphys!" She was already tugging at her clawed arm.

"Oh...well..alright..if you say so...." Alphys hesitantly going along with it as she got off the couch. "...ermm how are we getting to the beach? It's pretty far from here..."

"No problem! We'll take Papyrus' car, I'll leave him a note." Undyne replied and before Alphys could hesitate even more they were already in the shiny sports car with their swimsuits packed up and ready to go.

"Errm, Undyne, you can actually drive right ??!" A very concerned Alphys questioned

"Hey , no worries. I've seen Papyrus drive it's not so hard." Undyne ever so calmly responded copying what she always saw Papyrus' does and FLOORS it. The car almost quite literally FLEW towards the beach with a terrified Alphys clinging for dear life.

  In no time they had arrived. The car coming to a screeching hault as Undyne parked it in meer inches in front of a tree.

"We're here!" Undyne announced.

"OH THANK GOODNESS!!" Alphys scrambling out of the vehicle just so she could feel the unmoving ground underneath her feet. "Undyne, I vote we take the bus next time!"

"What's the point of taking a slow bus when you have a speedy sports car? Come on. We need to rent a surfboard!" Undyne already tugging on Alphys’ hand.

The two walk along the sandy beach before spotting a small rental shack with a few other people waiting in line.

"Here we go!" Undyne pointed out leading Alphys closer and closer to the shed before reaching the line. "Ha you'll be out surfing before you know it and I KNOW you can do it!" She still encouraging while they waited.

"I..I hope so! The more I think about it the more I actually want to give it a try! And...oh look the line is moving.....wait...." Alphys taking a good look at the small building. "Is there snow on that guy's roof?"

"....no way....it's not him....it couldn't be..." Undyne stares as the last person in front of her steps away.

And surprise before them standing behind a cash register was a very familiar, short skeleton wearing shades taped to his skull and in his light blue hoodie/white shirt combo despite the fact he was on a beach renting out surfboards.

"SANS?!" The two both so perplexed they let out in unison.

"s'up?" Was all the skelly greeted them with.

"Sans?? What the....? What are you doing here?" A bewildered Undyne asked.

"working. i took up a few summer jobs." Sans replied

"...you're actually.....working....?" Undyne gave him the most puzzled expression.

"yep. did you need anything? kind of on the clock." He reminded.

"Say do you know there's snow on your roof?" Alphys pointed out.

"nah, that's white sand." Sans simply replied.

Alphys stared hard at what was obviously not sand. ".....but..there’s no white sand around here…." Undyne butts in.

"Don't...don't encourage him. Alright, whatever, Sans, we would like to rent two surfboards, please." Finally Undyne playing along.

"I'm hoping to learn how to surf!" Alphys cheerfully mentioned.

"oh cool. i hope you have a good time." Sans encouraged . "now the boards are $40 each to rent but since youse came to see me i'll only charge for one board. "

"AW CRUD! I forgot to bring money!!!" Undyne exclaimed. "....can you...just give them to us for free...?"

"hmmm....i dunnoo....i could lose my job....." The skelly held back.

"Oh come , Sans, how about a trade? How about a some of the best snacks from my stash? I know you love the ramen. I can give you four packs of the ramen, a box of the candy you like so much, and I'll even throw in a big box of Pocky." Alphys offered

"alphy.....how could you think i'd give in so easily? make it two boxes of Pocky and they're yours."  Sans replied with a wink. .

"Deal!" Alphys and him shake on it while Undyne looks on in disbelief.

Sans rummages through the back and brings out two surfboards. "here ya go, buds. remember to bring ‘em back when your done.” 

"We will! Thanks, Sans!!" Alphys grabs one of the boards while....Undyne stares at the two of them for awhile. "Are you coming, Undyne?"

"Yeah....eh whatever. " Undyne grabs her board shrugging off the fact Sans made no money..hopefully he wasn't just "trading" with the other customers but ...she didn't ask.

"have fun, you two! i'm rooting for ya, alphys." Sans cheered after them as they carried off the boards.

"Aw, thanks, Sans!" Alphys yelled back. 

Soon after they were at the water's edge in their swimsuits. Undyne was pretty eager and ready to jump right in....while Alphys felt her apprehension sneak back in.

"Oooh dear....oh!" She exclaimed as she felt the cool water on her feet. "....I didn't realize how....big the ocean is..." 

"Yep , it's really big all right." Undyne smiled. "Don't worry. You'll do fine....now first you're going to take your board and paddle it a bit out to sea."

"Out to sea?? Like actually further OUT?” Poor Alphys began panicking a little. 

"Yep, that's the best spot to catch any waves." Undyne still smiling as she held onto  Alphys' hand. "Don't worry....I'm right here with you. No matter what!"

"...well..o...okay....I think I can do this...as long as you're with me." Alphys trusting and following Undyne as that paddled out into deep water.

Undyne finds a spot for them to settle on. "Alright we made it out here..."

"Wow....it's actually really nice out here..." Alphys remarked as she started to take in the beauty of the ocean.

"That's the spirit! Now we're going to climb out and sit on our boards...as such." Undyne pulls herself onto the surfboard. 

Alphys follows her lead and climbs up sitting on her own board."Ready!"

"Good...you see that wave ?" Undyne points behind her. "We're going to ride it...I'll go first." She paddles into a better position . "Now watch me."The wave rolls along pushing Undyne as she stands up and rides it. 

Alphys watched in awe as her eyes followed Undyne until she let herself fall off the surfboard. "Ooooh woow....I..I hope I can do this..."She waits for her own wave to approach. "Here goes nothing...." 

Just like Undyne, Alphys stood up letting the wave push her along.  For her first time she wasn't doing all that bad. Alphys felt a rush of energy as  she rode the wave best as she could. She held her balance not as long as Undyne did as she felt her ride being cut a bit short with a splash. She laughed about it though. As she met back up with Undyne.

"Did you see me, Undyne?! I did it!!! Well I kind of wiped out but ha I did it!!" Alphys cheered very proud of herself for doing something she ...didn't think she could do.

"See?! I told you! Want to go for another round??" Undyne laughed.

"Oh yes please!" Alphys responded and off they went paddling for another wave.

"This time you go first." Undyne smiled.

"Oh...well ok if you say so..." Alphys prepared herself as the wave came along at the right moment she stood up again allowing the wave to push her back towards the shore. "Weeee!" She let out as she wiped out again.

Undyne came riding in behind her , rolling along with the wave a bit longer before dropping back into the water.

"Oh wow! This is was a lot more fun than I ever imagined!" Alphys exclaimed as she paddled herself back to Undyne. "Ooh look, Undyne!" She pointed at a sea turtle swim just underneath the surface. ".....it kind of reminds me of Gerson!"

"Oh yeah it does! Ha it's kind of weird living with some of the animals on the surface....like the fish....I try not to think about it though they're still pretty neat." Undyne commented

"Can.....can we go again???" Alphys eagerly asked.

"Sure, as many times as you want. Lead the way.....what the..." Undyne glancing over to see a full on sleeping , short skeleton floating past on a surfboard rolling along on a wave...like driftwood... somehow without losing the shades still on his head. And somehow....

".....how....is he not falling off??" Alphys questioned.

"Uggh...don't know... don't pay him any mind." Undyne began paddling back out towards another wave.Trying her best to ignore the “sleep surfing” Sans.

"And who's watching the surf shack??" Alphys continued on.

"Stop thinking about it, Alphys, somehow I know he's there too...."Undyne shouting back.

"But....how..."

"Do you want to continue surfing or what?" 

"Haha....yes of course!" Alphys laughs it off as she followed Undyne further out into deeper water.

 And again riding the next wave and...wiping out. 

The two continued on surfing until the sun began to set...and then they had time to sit and cuddle next to each other right on the beach. Smiling at each other and watching the day drift into night.
