#it's watchable

But hoo boy do you have to overlook a lot to get there.

It’s not super long and the two main characters are good and you definitely feel for Junjie, no denials. 

But the characterizations aren’t steady, the plot is... not, the relationship is jerkier than a drunk horse on a broken treadmill... It’s an odd little adventure and the dubbing versus not dubbing versus the ‘our mics just took in the entire room and we didn’t rebalance anything’

Yet, in the end, I don’t totally regret taking the time to watch this. Bittersweet, certainly. Not worth it if you’re looking for anything artful or deep. 

But, hey. If you’re looking for something to watch and you’re okay with everything described above, go ahead! Give it a try!

i watched it all in one sitting because honestly if i split it, i would have lost all interest, as nothing really happens in that first part except for matt mac establishing himself as a cousin greg type of character and looking amazing.

the rest isn't that much better, the highlights include: matt mac circling his cousin's tits with a laser pointer as a form of foreplay; dumbledore dancing manically in the middle of a field, sudden bisexual subplot (that does not include matt mac. sadly. but the word bisexual is actually said on screen a number of times, which is quite a novelty); toby stephens having a breakdown in a toilet of a government building; ANOTHER instance of affairs within their family ranks, not only does matt mac fuck his cousin because he reminds her of her brother, his grandfather falls in love with his brother's wife as well.
