Sleeping with you is my medicine. Or should I say sleeping beside you. Not sex. Sleeping next to you. The way your tall, lanky body keeps me warm, under this white blanket. Your long arms encompassing me, as my back presses against your chest for these few hours together. I love to sleep, but even more, I love glancing back at you to see your beautiful face. Wavy blond hair, falling over your forehead, the ends just barely curling. Lips the loveliest shade of pink and your cheeks flushed with the same color. You’re mesmerizing. Pitch black and nearly silent. I hear the clock ticking on the other side of the cold room. I hear you breathing. Every four seconds I hear you exhale. I began counting. You calm me down. Next to you I sleep through the night. The nightmares fade. My illnesses disappear. I don’t think you know this, but your feet twitch and you rub them together in your sleep. When our feet are close together yours rub over mine. It’s comforting. Even in this cold, dark room, you still manage to make me feel warm.
I miss us
