Toon Town was having a delightful autumn day. The leaves were falling off the trees, Halloween was over and Thanksgiving was just around the corner.
Not that Lucas really celebrated those human holidays. He used to... But that was back when he actually had a family. He doesn't have one anymore. Unfortunate as that may have sounded to a stranger, Lucas was used to being alone now. He used to have Lucy, but even she was taken away from him.
The crazy old coot actually gave him the day off for once. No one was really aware of Lucas’s connection to the mad doctor, and honestly he loved it. He had the freedom to go anywhere and do whatever he wanted in the town.
It was actually fucking great.
Lucas was always the troublemaker, and while he didn’t really cause huge ruckuses to draw the attention of the police, It was the small things that really counted. Pickpocketing was the main thing that he did while out at times, and today was no different.
Despite having those large, clawlike fingers; Lucas was a skilled pickpocket and most of the time got away with his target’s wallet, taking the cash out and leaving everything else. He had no use for credit or debit cards. They would only bring trouble. That and nowadays everything had a pin to put in in order to use ‘em so it was pointless to try and use one of those flimsy plastic things.
As he was stuffing the money he had stolen into his own wallet, there was a toon that immediately caught his interest. Not for pickpocketing, but he looked completely out of place, and probably lost as hell too. What kind of show was he from? Or was he a preformer? hard to see either of those things being true since his head was a cup filled with liquid. Was that liquid his brain? Would he die if it spilled out or someone sucked it out of the straw that was on his head?
Lucas wasn't usually one to even glance at lost children. All they did was wail for their parents and it was usually better dropping them off at the police station then trying to find their parents himself.
But...
Maybe he saw a part of himself in the kid, that scared afraid of the world look that he always had when hiding behind his mother. That was the only reason that he would help this kid.
Yeah... That was the only reason.
So Lucas walked up to the kid with a neutral expression on his face. He didn't seem annoyed or angry. Just indifferent as he stared at the kid with blank eyes. Usually, like humans a toon’s eyes are the window to their emotions. For now, that was not the case with Lucas.
“You lost, Kid?”
