#it devours!

Bonus pictures of me wearing the jacket!!! I even made those fishnet gloves just so I could wear them with this :3

so i thrifted these pants for theatre, cause the only tech black pants i had was a skirt, and then literally the day after i got them i cut a hole into the knee while cutting yarn. i have never cut a hole into my clothes before, despite the fact i crochet all the time and therefore use sharp small scissors all the time,,, anyway. i decided to put a centipede patch over the hole rather than just sew it up, cause i thought it’d be a quick fun project (famous last words). this took me So Long. it also was not supposed to Be an it devours! project, it just sort of. became that.

i was not ORIGINALLY going to do it in patchwork, then while raiding my mom’s fabric stash, i saw that she had lots of interesting patterns and textures. just cutting (and fray proofing! most of these pieces needed to be fray proofed, and i only had old clear nail polish on hand) took FOREVER. and then the legs,,,, i spent i don’t even know how long on the legs. there were three days at LEAST where that was pretty much the only thing i did. if i ever have to do a chain stitch again,,,, i also freehanded all of them. fun!!!!

Drawing three is from a scene in the book ‘It Devours!’. Sam is standing idly leaning on their shotgun with a hand in their pocket, looking bored and slightly irritated as they speak. Nilanjana Sikdar, a short, fat, Indian woman wearing a labcoat and active clothes is standing next to them, looking at them in disbelief and confusion. Behind them a building-sized centipede is climbing over a row of houses and something is on fire. Text reads:

Sam: “Well, I’m afraid we’ve tried everything. There doesn’t seem to be a way to stop it.”

Nilanjana: “You only tried shooting it.”

Sam: “Yes. As I just said, everything. Terrible blow, but it just seems our best efforts aren’t going to be enough. The town had a good run though, eh?”

Sam is wearing a black and red midi skirt, a dark red blazer with a fur collar, cowboy boots, a transparent turtleneck shirt and a black cowboy hat embellished with a red rose, as well as jewellery.
