are all mermaids meat eaters?
I would never say no to a vegetarian mermaid!! Although both species have evolved to better suit their environment, humans and mermaids are more alike than different. It’s not defined as canon, but I think of the aquatic ape hypothesis when I consider a mermaid’s development! So aside from some adjustments here and there humans and mermaids would have to share a common ancestor, though would have to experience a founder effect to limit genetic variation. But this wouldn’t completely change what the body can and cannot digest! So the answer is: no! Mermaids definitely can have a long, healthy life without consuming meat!
