After knocking on the cabin door, Dean takes a step back as he waits for it to be opened, each end of his undid tie held in each hand as he looped it over again in another failed attempt to get it actually right. It was a wonder in itself that he made it to thirty-six without mastering how to do it himself, but there was usually someone around who was insistent on making him look more presentable than he cared to be when rare times rolled around where he had to wear one.
Despite how many people he knew on board, there was one that came to mind instantly when he set about finding someone to aid him in his predicament, the very same who had unintentionally carved herself out a place in his life where she was someone he went to with most of his troubles.
Once it’s no longer him alone on deck battling with fabric, his eyes meet Isla’s and he’s sure she can guess his following request, though he speaks it aloud anyway.
“You feel like me and you swapping roles for a minute and you can save a life? ‘Cause I’m about to throw this tie overboard and then I’m going to have to go in and get it and I’ve had one margarita too many already for that not to be a bad idea.”
