The Talagol Dwarves are one of many folk who dwell in the arid interior of western Turema. Predominantly a settled people, the majority live within the fertile Talag river valley, an isolated strip of arable land that divides the great Zulain desert from the rocky steppelands of Talocal to the north. First settled by dwarves from Arahiz some 1,200 years ago, the Talag valley has traditionally been ruled over by the dozen or so city states that span its length. The greatest of these are Ari, Tash and Talagkand, known together as the Jewels of Talag. Besides their primarily dwarven makeup, and a shared desire for independence, the cities are bound by a common language, religion and material culture.
The language, Talaghot, is believed to be an offshoot of the language spoken by the Qaratol people, tribes of human and dwarven desert nomads who were themselves indigenous to the valley before its dwarven settlement, and still herd in the valley highlands.
As the gateway to the Zulain, the cities of Talag are major hubs of trade and supply, serving both desert nomads as well as the merchant caravans that choose to make the perilous trek across the sands.

The Leshy are an enigmatic people of the northern taiga. Worshippers of the Green Lady, they are oft found as thralls of witches conjured forth by the goddess and forced to do Her bidding, but are otherwise peaceful, so long as their forest homes remain threatened.
From time to time, the lucid Gods make their attempts to breach the Afar. Thusly are Witches born: the weak, the sickly, the downtrodden - vulnerable and feeble in their resistance to the Whispering Ones - paradoxically make the finest of transplanar vessels. In exchange for power and unconditional love, they give their bodies and free will as conduits for the Old Magic.
My finished character design for a soldier in my worldbuilding project. I actually really enjoyed this, and it went very smoothly compared to my last painting of this sort. Krita definitely seems to be up my alley.

Officer of the 42nd Zuen-Tep, Great Lotus Army, OE 463
The Great Court of the Lotus, or the Zhowentec, is a young state ruling over an old nation. Forged in the fires of rebellion against the domination of the Wild Hunt of Tsal, the Court is defiantly republican, though it's old academic aristocracy continues to steer the ship of state, and this ideological zeal has bought it both friends and enemies alike.
The Fae Princes still run free in their ancestral homelands on the Western Steppe, ravaging the Court's frontiers, while relations with the Most Serene Kingdom of Senuk-Riyva to the north have deteriorated sharply since the first deployment of Lotus troops to prop up the fledgling Iomasacese Republics in the 450s. Meanwhile, the Court seeks to expand it's power further, looking towards the arid, magic-rich lands of the newly risen God Kartok and it's Dustborn children.
Such concerns have contributed to the vast expansion of the Great Lotus Army in the subsequent decades, and it's eventual status as Isico's greatest terrestial force by sheer size, enabled by the Court's blooming industrial economy. Although not as advanced in fields such as artillery and tincasted battle constructs, the Lotus troops have come to be known for the excellent quality of their infantry corps, which boast the largest concentration of modern firearms anywhere in the world. The simplicity and reliability of the Lotus arquebus continues to elude their rivals, though this great tactical advantage has come with a greater logistical cost.
The 42nd Zuen-Tep is an infantry regiment of the Red Standard Army, one of the GLA's five main regional divisions (the others being White, Black, Yellow and Blue), stationed on the western border with the Tsal territories. It's soldiers bear a distinctive blue uniform, featuring patterned robes based on textiles from the eponymous city, and officers (as seen above) wear plumed helmets and cloaks to denote their rank.
The regiment is best known for it's famous punitive raid against the Wild Hunt in OE 458, known as the Rentep Expedition, wherein the regiment successfully razed the main camp of Prince Tsal Xarinth, then leader of the Hunt, killing him and subsequently routing the elves from the Rentep plateau - a rare decisive action in the slowburn Lotus-Tsal war.

Zhasel is an agent for a secret society/intelligence agency known as the Band of Immaculates. After a mission gone wrong, she was badly injured, and was subject to a highly experimental treatment which saw much of her body, including her vocal cords, replaced with enchanted machinery. To the surprise of the surgeons and engineers, her body responded well to the prosthetics, and she made an unusually rapid recovery.
Her brief brush with death ultimately did little to stop her from fulfilling her duties, and she eventually came to be known among the Band’s acolytes as the Lady of Brass, renowned for her efficiency in the field as well as her (slightly cynical) charm.
