Kyomi has been on the mind again (when is she not?) and I just. Really want to talk about her and some of the reasons why she's so fascinating to me. It's probably gonna be a lot, so I'm putting it under a cut and just really hoping people will click and read.
I will be trying to do this without diving too deep into the fandoms that helped spawn Kyomi as she is today.
What I want to start with is the fact that Kyomi is really powerful. Like. Ridiculously powerful. And even though she knows this, she doesn't, not really. Like, she's more than aware that she's powerful because of the many demons she's fought off. But she also thinks she's really weak.
Why? Because of her past. Because she couldn't get out on her own. She couldn't fight back. She couldn't save her brother. She killed him. She killed her brother.
How could she be strong when she couldn't even save him?
On top of that, she's a demon, she's a dragon. She's possessive, protective, loyal.
She had to kill her own brother.
She doesn't regret it. She feels guilty. She should've saved him. Why couldn't she. Why couldn't she save him like they saved her.
But was he really her brother anymore? The boy she grew up with wanted to be a hero, wanted to save everyone.
The man she killed was going to kill thousands, if not millions. She had to. She was the only one strong enough, the only one who could get close enough.
She knows the brother she grew up with would have wanted her to do it.
She knows the brother she killed had no choice in the matter either, not really. He was forced into this position as much as she was.
No matter how many people she helps, no matter how many people she saves, she will always remember the brother she couldn't save.
She can't think about it too much, not now she's still young. If she thinks about it too much it'll eat at her until she breaks down. She's had the therapy. She's worked through it as much as she could. She just needs time. Maybe one day she'll look back on the memories with fondness. Maybe one day the guilt of being too weak will pass.
She has a new brother. One who's strong enough to save himself. He doesn't need her. He relies on her anyway.
She's weak again. This time, it's not a flaw. Not to her family. It's okay. You're young. You'll grow into your powers. Until then, we'll protect you. (We won't need to. You're stronger than you let yourself believe. You could change the world. You will change the world. And it'll be for the better.)
She can't be protected. She needs freedom. Space. (She doesn't deserve it. She's not special like that. She's a fuck up.)
She's confident. She knows what she's capable of. She's insecure. What if she can't do it when it matters? What if she fails again? What if she can't save-?
She's happy, she's kind, she's the person you want to befriend. She doesn't experience emotions as others do. She's faking her smile so often. But if it reassures others, if it keeps them happy-
She doesn't even realize it. She just does it. Even if she knew she wouldn't think about it because she can't risk it. Better to just move on instinct.
She thinks people shouldn't be ashamed of scars. It shows you survived. She hates her own scars and doesn't want to look at them. (She survived. She shouldn't have. She should have been the one to die, not her brother.)
She has the same power her grandma had. Her grandma was a hero. She is celebrated as a hero, too. She will never be one, not really. She couldn't save the person who mattered most. (She killed the person who killed her grandma. She killed the person who was responsible for her brother turning out the way he did. She avenged them. It'll never be enough.)
I just- can you guys see it? See why she's haunting my brain?
A beautiful night

Hey everyone! I’ve got this assignment for school, and for one of the parts I need to get some statistics.Â
It’s about character building, and if any writers seeing this could fill out this form, I would very much appreciate it. It shouldn’t take too long.
If you’re not a writer, please don’t fill this out.
And like with polls, please share for a bigger sample size.
