Considering all the things that scare him, I think Isaac is a lot braver than he gets credit for. Having to be polite and not panic around Archie is being brave.
No older than twelve, a child, struggling to figure out glamours. A magic that didn't come natural to him, that didn't make sense, and no amount of 'help' from court fae who could change their appearances as easily as they breathed, seemed to help. Possibly because 'why can't you figure this out?', 'What's wrong with you it's simple?', 'Oh come on, can't you feel that fizz when you visualize a change, just grab it' actually helped.
Beyond the court walls was a seemingly endless boreal forest. Freezing cold at night and known for its fae mega-fauna and other beasts.
'If you want to be wild, be wild'. Was all they'd said, tossing him out there alone. If he couldn't hide his tail, his eyes, it was because he wasn't trying, didn't understand that he needed to. Let him know what that side of him entailed.

Still, he managed to run, to make himself move from whatever little hidey hole felt safe, every dawn, to get back to the wall.
Until he finally figured it out and they let him back inside.
