Robby lets out a heavy sigh as he enters their front door, Jack following closely behind. Dennis is immediately jumping on his legs, the door not even closed yet. Robby and Jack are so not in the right head space from this, the multiple vehicle pileup that came in at the end of the shift drained them of any remaining energy.

"Denny, go get in your bed." But Dennis isn't listening, he's pawing at Robby's pants, eager for attention.

Jack pulls him down to all fours but the back of his collar. "Not right now love bug. Daddy and Sir aren't in the mood to play."

And normally Denny is such a good listener, such a good boy, but he's been left by himself all day waiting for this exact moment. Which means he's really sunk into his puppy space, words of instruction not registering.

So he's jumping at Jack this time, sniffing around his crotch trying to nuzzle his dick.

And maybe it was all the casualties, or the way his prosthetic didn't seem to fit well today, or the lack of preparedness for his pup being right at the door. But Jack snaps.

"Damn it Dennis, we said go away!"

And Dennis is taking off out the open door before the couple can blink. He's on two feet, but they're wildly unsteady from the rejection. He knew it was too good to be true, he knew eventually he would mess everything up.

In minutes he’s a whole block away, unfortunately an expert at gaining distance quickly. When he feels he’s far enough, he sits under the large tree they always pass on the way to work. Tries not to think about how it’ll never happen again.

“Shit, shit shit shit!” Robby is pulling Jack into a tight hug. He can’t tell who’s trembling, probably the both of them. After a reset, toe duo jump into action.

Jack and Robby are quickly in the car, driving circles around their neighborhood. They're trying their best to stay calm but it's getting dark and they know their boy is fast.

Luckily it doesn't take long to find a shivering Dennis behind the large oak tree at the edge of their neighborhood. Jack is jumping out of the car as soon as Robby stops it.

"Denny, Denny baby, Sir is so sorry." He's embracing Dennis, tears in his eyes when the pup flinches at him. The boy is looking confused, which devastates the older couple.

Robby is scooping him up and setting him in the backseat, laying him in the dog bed and pulling a cover around him.

"I thought you guys didn't want me? I don't understand." Dennis speaks quietly.

"Of course we want you baby, we love you so much and I am so sorry for yelling at you. My sweet boy didn't deserve that." Jack climbs into the backseat with him and Robby hops into the front, ready to take them all home.

Jack is the one clinging to Dennis now, tracing his tear tracks and petting his hair. He's whispering sorry's and sweet nothings into the pups ears the whole way back. Dennis is already feeling himself again, Sir's hands on him a calming effect.

The trio are all situated on the couch, Dennis eating a small snack while Robby puts all his weight on top of him, relaxing him with pressure. Jack is sitting next to them, stroking Dennis' hair, still feeling guilty.

Dennis pulls Jack closer, his "I forgive you guys." melting his Sir.

Of course after this, they spoil their pup rotten; keeping him in puppy space with treats, cuddles, games, and sex.
