Kakashi was pacing around his small apartment, anger rapidly rising and making his cluttered mind flip flop.

Iruka hadn’t spoken to him since his confession to cheating. He didn’t care for any reasons the ANBU had tried to give him, especially after he’d initially tried to just get the man to leave and never come back.

Eight long days had passed since then, and Kakashi hadn’t even as much as seen the other— And it was starting to take a nasty toll on the incredibly codependant schizophrenic.

Shaking hands raked through the even more messy than usual silver spikes atop Kakashi’s head as he spat out hushed words to himself.

❝ He can’t keep this up, he can’t. Doesn’t he realize? No, of course he doesn’t. Why should he? I cheated, I— ❞ ` I didn’t. ` ❝ I ruined it. I pushed him away and hurt him. I hurt him so much— ❞ ` You didn’t hurt him in the right ways. ` ❝ I still need him. I can’t live without him. He’s the only good fucking thing I have left, he has to understand that— ❞ ` Go find him. ` ❝ I’ll try again. I have to. I’ll go see him and just tell him— ❞ ` I’ll tell him. `

With a few short, heavy footsteps, Kakashi walked to his front door and exited his apartment and immediately leapt to the rooftop of the compound and darted across to another as he made his way towards the Academy teachers home. His blinding speed only visible as a white blur in his ANBU uniform, and neglecting to realize one small, yet crucial detail— The porcelain mask was still firmly in place over the Hatake’s face.

In what felt like an eternity, though was actually just about ten minutes, the ANBU was at Iruka’s door. Panting, trembling, and not quite aware anymore of the world around him, he stared at the surface that was the only thing keeping him from seeing Iruka.

` He’s so close, can’t you sense him? I can. `

The door was pushed through just a short moment later— His tall frame immediately creating a heavy presense in the formerly calm atmosphere as he stared at Iruka seated on his couch hovering over paperwork.

Kakashi was huddled close to Iruka with a long arm draped around his shoulders, the other wrapped around the tan knees that the Academy teacher had against his chest, gently cradling his lover for the little ball of nerves he currently was as they stared at the small tv screen. The two had decided to spend the night in together and watch a horror movie, which much to Kakashi’s liking, was causing Iruka to press himself very close against the ANBU.

The intense silence as they watched a young girl approach the front door of her home was cut off abruptly by a low growling noise from somewhere in the apartment.

‘ Did you hear that? ’

The older, and seemingly more brave for the moment, nodded to the others question and slowly slipped an arm away from Iruka as he pulled out a kunai from underneath the couch cushion he was seated on.

❝ Yeah… Wait here. ❞

With his blood flow increasing in speed as his adrenline picked up, Kakashi stood and listened intently for a moment before approaching the hall closet, realizing the source of the sound.

He hesitated only for a moment with his hand on the knob, taking a deep breath to ready himself to face whatever ungodly beasty was hiding in their home, before throwing the small door open with enough force to take the weak wood off one of it’s hinges.

‘ Hey boss. ’

❝ PAKKUN YOU FUCKING MUTT, GET OUT OF THERE. ❞

The ANBU, still ready to kill, lifted the smallest of his ninken up by his brown scruff and away from the shoe he’d been chewing on. Pointing a long, pale finger in the dog’s face, mouth open and ready to yell once more until he heard Iruka shouting from the living room to ‘ shuttup and relax. ’

He looked back, mild horror crossing his feautures at the risk of not returning to his boyfriend fast enough and possibly eliminating any chance of having sex that night, then returned his glare to Pakkun and shaking his head.

❝ I hate you sometimes. ❞

If the annoyance that eminated from the ANBU wasn’t obvious enough from the glare being cast from the single visible eye, then the heavy air around the two shinobi would definitely give his mood away.

Normally, Kakashi secretly enjoyed being fussed over by Iruka— But he hated when the matter of eating, or his lack-there-of came up. It wasn’t that Kakashi didn’t want to eat, it was simply what Iruka wanted him to eat.

Ramen had haunted his stomach as well as his wallet for years between all the countless trips to Ichiraku and nights in when his partner would bring home ramen to-go. If given the choice to eat ramen, or not eat at all, well, he’d be in the situation he was currently stuck in.

` How can I get out of this without pissing him off further… `` …but he does look cute when he’s pushy— `

He shook his head, breaking free from his wandering thoughts as the smell of the salty broth tickled the inside of his nose and made his stomach turn. Damnit all.

With a loud bang as Kakashi’s fist slammed down on the table, he yanked the black mask down from his face, much like a child throwing a tantrum, and closed his mouth around the chopsticks that had been hovering in his face for much too long.

The shaking increased as he felt Iruka had left the room— Everything felt colder. His body moved before he could even attempt to hold back, he couldn’t help it. To go to Iruka, to chase him, to keep him— It was instinct.

Kakashi practically threw himself out his front door, grabbing his lover by the shoulder and forcing him backwards in to a pleadingly tight embrace.

❝ No, no, please. Just— ❞

Tears threatened his blue eye and he shut them tightly, breathing becoming violent against Iruka’s back.

Kakashi was still seated on his couch, head hung low with each elbow resting on his knees. He couldn’t look at him, he didn’t deserve to. He knew that this would be the outcome to admitting to quite possibly one of his biggest fuck up’s ever— And he’s fucked up quite a bit all his life.

It all started after his and Iruka’s last Hound issue… Kakashi thought if he started to redirect his attention away from Iruka, that he would be safe. But it failed, miserabley. And this time— The bruises, wounds, deep set in nail marks that tore Iruka’s tan skin… All lingered for too long for Kakashi to bear.

❝ I’m no good ‘Ruka, I know this and so do you, finally. So please, say anything you want. Hit me. Break my jaw. Tell me you don’t love me— ❞

His pale frame began to shake slightly under the pressure of his entire life falling apart yet again by his own hands.

❝ Just please, never— ❞

Obito’s scream was muffled by the fingers shoving the pill in his mouth. This was for two reasons, one he had not expected Iruka to shove the stupid medicine down his throat and two he thought he was alone.

He coughed at coughed trying to shove the male away but he was just too exhausted to even try. He groaned as the wave of dizziness hit him and he laid back in his pillows. 

❝ Maa, sensitive are we? ❞

Kakashi tensed, awaiting the inevitable punch to his ribs.

The ANBU, with every single of his walls down, stiffened and stared deeply in to the others eyes.

❝ As a boyfriend. That’s what. ❞

Thin lips pressed breifly to the corner of Iruka’s mouth, letting himself relax against his shoulder.
