Colliding Lives- Animation workshop

Award winning filmdirector and animator Magali Charrier joined Ministry of Love to explore the relationship between filmed movement and mark-making. The workshop explored the theme of touch - a dimension missing from our online interactions. The group worked on a series of short extracts of film showing various people coming in physical contact with one another. They were asked to reflect upon: Where do our need to touch and be touched come from? What physical and emotional responses does it trigger in us? and create graphical responses to those themes. Once brought all together, the quick repetition/accumulation of movements of tenderness creates a hypnotic demonstration of love constantly aborted and interfered with. 

I Look At The Sky by Jim Stoten. To celebrate the launch of his new album, 'On A Flying Frog', the endlessly talented Jim Stoten cobbled together Irene Fuga, Dave Brown and myself to help him make a music video for his song, 'I look at the sky'.

It was filmed in one day in Early December 2013 in an old warehouse in Wembley and that furry orange suit certainly kept me warm despite the cold temperature. The day was fuelled by caffeine and whiskey. It was beautiful.

Members of the public were invited to step into a pop-up photographic studio within the gallery space to take their own self-portrait as the basis for an experimental process. At a time where self-representation is encouraged and reinforced by social media and selfies become a global phenomenon, the artists question the shifting meanings and values of it.
