You Fell, but She Fell Harder; Confessions [10]
Jennie Kim x Fem!reader
A/N: Iâm sorry if I use incorrect terms about rivers, creeksâ stuff like that. Itâs easier to explain in my head..
Weâre getting somewhere!
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ..âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ.
Jennie stands there, leaning against the door. Eyes dark and cat-like stare back at yours.
You canât help but feel like you walked into a trap. Cat and mouse, predator and prey.
Of course youâre the mouse.
The flames from the fireplace reflect light across the room, dancing in Jennieâs eyes and making them a lighter brown shade because of it.
Her hair is down and curled, cascading over her shoulder in a wave. She wears a different sweater today: magenta colored and cropped with a patch design, this is paired with black trousers.
She smiles, the corners of her lips quirking upwards into a sexy grin that has you weak in the knees and swallowing thickly as your heart races to a new level.
She crosses the floor, taking light steps towards you. She stands in your personal space now. Her hands move up to your cheeks and her thumbs caress along your cheeks gently as she leans in closer, her eyes shut.
Jennie was going to kiss you.
But she stops short, her motions hesitant, like she forgot something. She forgot to ask.
âCan I kiss you?â She whispers, her breath hitting your face. Please. Youâll say yes wonât you? (obviously)
You nod slowly, still processing what's going on. Processing the fact that Jennie might like you back. You felt giddy at the thought.
After your confirmation, Jennie was quick to press her lips against yours. A shiver passes through your body when your lips meet. Itâs soft, itâs delicate. It tastes sweet.
Jennie sighs into the kiss, her body finally feeling lighter. When her door opened and you walked in, her heart was filled with joy. It was as if everything came together. Like everything had been leading to this day. It was you.
âIâm so happy it was you.â She mumbles before deepening the kiss. The eagerness in it has you both occasionally letting moans out. Along the way youâve gravitated to the wall. Jennieâs back resting against it, you pin her there. She kisses you like a drowned man clutching to pieces of a shipwreck, you're her oxygen.
Your hands slide to Jennieâs waist and her perfume invades your senses. The citrus smell youâve come to love. Your stomach tingles in the best way possible and your chest buzzes with warmth. Her fingers tangle themselves in your hair.
You pull away when air becomes a problem, giving her a moment to breathe. You lean down, pressing-open mouthed kisses along her jaw and neck, your fingers caressing the exposed skin of her waist. You couldnât help it, Jennieâs skin was so soft. Her chest moved up and down in a rhythm that had you memorized. Her heavy breaths filled the air, occasionally mixed with soft moans. You loved all the sounds she was giving, drinking them up like fine wine as you kissed at her pulse point.
When she catches her breath she tugs you by the collar back up to her. Impatient to feel your lips against hers.
Once again your mouths locked together. Jennie grinned into the kiss. She was addicted. She was.
You much the same. You couldnât get enough. You couldnât.
Experimentally, your tongue swipes at her bottom lip, wanting to deepen the kiss but Jennie tapped your shoulder and you worry youâve overstepped. You pulled away, words quickly coming out your mouth.
âIâm sorry, was It too much? I canât seem to help myself.â You say sheepishly. Jennie shakes her head. You didnât do anything wrong.
âNo,â Jennie whispers, âthis is perfect. Youâre perfect.â Her words make your face heat up.
Jennie takes a deep breath, multiple deep breaths before continuing. She pecks your lips once more, âBut I really want to be able to talk about this with you, and if we continue on...â She doesnât think sheâll be able to stop.
You take some time to take a look at Jennie. Her face is flushed and her lips are red and swollen. Her feline-eyes dilated and dark. You're sure you look similar. âYouâre so beautiful.â You blurt out.
She basks in your words like theyâre the sun, a grin exploring her entire face and her nose scrunching up adorably.
You go back to her previous words, coming to the realization. âOhâŚ.oh! Of course.â
She takes your hand and you move into the living room, sitting down on the couch. You sat close to each other, cuddling into each other's side and holding hands.
âI have so much to tell you.â You whispered into Jennie's hair.
âSo do I.â She did, really.
âGo first?â You suggested, needing more time to formulate your words, your thoughts.
âI love you.â Jennie finally said it, the words thatâs been weighing on her, causing her sleepless nights. Sheâs wanted to tell you that since you saved her at the creek.
You were speechless, really. You stared at Jennie with wide eyes. Jennie smiled at you, albeit nervously before she continued, playing with the rings on her fingers, âItâs completely fine if you're not there yet. Iâve loved you for some time now. I just want you to know I was overjoyed when you walked through my door.â
You wiggled your eyebrows, âIt seems so.â Seeing how you were welcomed.
You took Jennieâs hands in yours, opening your mouth to speak, only to change your words. A thought occurred to you. âWhereâs Mandu? Is she hiding from me?â
âNo sheâs hereâŚâ Jennie got up, not before kissing you a few times. She squeezed your hand, âI believe this would be your final test, Love.â
âWhat?â , âTrust me? Iâll be right back.â
Jennie came back into the room shortly. She stood about two meters in front of you, a nervous smile on her face. âI usually keep this in my pocket,â she held the key Mandu usually wears before pulling it over her head, âhere goes nothing.â She sighed.
âWhat-?â Your mind raced to catch up. Make sense of the situation. What was she doing?
You watched as she shrunk, almost like an illusion, her body became smaller and smaller till it morphed, and once you blinked, your familiar multicolored feline friend, Mandu, stood there. Your mouth closed and opened like a fish before you ultimately gave up. You blinked and pinched yourself, thinking a trick was being played on you, but no it was all real.
âJennie?â You called out tentatively. Mandu meowed in responseâ or should you say Jennie instead? She didnât move, making you frown, she simply looked at you.
âCome back next to me, please? You're too far away.â You laugh as Jennie changes back and settles down next to you now in human form. She has an unreadable expression paired with a small smile. You turn your body towards her before holding her hands and look into her eyes.
âI admit Iâm a bit shocked,â You muse as Jennie frowns, her eyes turning downcast. Of course you would be freaked out, this isnât normal at all. Sheâs not normal.
You cup Jennieâs face so she looks at you again. âWait, I didn't finish. But I also am willing to understand this, you. I love you, furry creature or human. A part of me thinks itâs really cool, actually.â Your tone was soft, as was your gaze. Jennie and Mandu were the same. You loved both of them dearly, and knowing that, your heart was full.
A tear slipped from Jennieâs eyes, more following after. She cried into your chest. Overwhelming love and joy, she felt. You loved her. You accepted this fairytale part of her life.
You on the other hand weâre coming to the realization, inputting Jennie and Manduâs place with all your encounters.
One, Jennie almost scratched your face off. Two, she broke your favorite pottery piece, and others. Three, she was scared of thunderâ and she saw you in just a bra. (which explains why the cat was shy) Four, Jennie got poisonedâ thank god, you saved her in time. Five, she was so cool scratching Minhoâs face off!
Soon, Jennie calmed down and you sat in a comfortable silence. But you hadâŚquestions, of course, and maybe it showed on your face.
âLove? Donât be shy to ask me about my abilities.â She laughed, and you sighed dramatically.
âI have so many!â
You hummed, asking the first question that came to mind, âAre you the only one?â You remembered the abnormal acting coyotes.
âIn Furusato? Not at all.â She answered.
âThen whoââ
You're interrupted by the doorbell being rung repeatedly, like someone was pressing the button multiple times. Jennie didnât even have time to get up before the door opened, three familiar loud voices filling the house. Jennie rolled her eyes before snuggling closer into you.
Lisa and Jisoo walked into the living room, Roseanne coming in later shortly with a pepper in her hand. Sheâs gotten to Jennieâs kitchen already.
âSo! Iâm guessing everything went well.â Roseanne commented as she settled onto the armchair couch across the room.
âObviously, look at them!â Lisa answered for Roseanne as she and Jisoo took a seat on the other long couch, amusement in her voice. Jennie was indeed cuddled into your side, looking content as ever, and it didnât help seeing your head resting atop Jennieâs.
âLeave them alone, theyâre cute.â Jisoo scolded.
âWell, meet your coyotes.â Jennie deadpanned, rolling her eyes playfully at the couple's antics. Lisa and Jisoo froze. âWhy?â They wined, âwe couldâve had a field day teasing her about that!â Jennie just had to ruin their plans. Welp.
âShow me? Please.â You watched as they transformed, the process similar to Jennieâs. Now a white and gray coyote stood in the living room.
The gray one padded up to you (Lisa), and you tentatively pet its fur. It snorted against your hand and you giggled. The white one(Jisoo) padded up to you as well, standing next to the other.
âI canât believe my bosses are coyotes.â You teased. You looked towards Roseanne expectantly, who was in the middle of chomping on the pepper. Her eyes widened, knowing what you were going to say. âAre you a chipmunk?â You asked excitedly. It would make sense wouldnât it?
Jennie, and Lisa and Jisooâ who had shifted back, began to laugh obnoxiously.
Roseanne spluttered, her face red. âWhat? No, I'm not!â She frowned. Your mouth formed an O-shape.
âThen..?â She had to be something.
âIâm a goddess. I gave those two,â she pointed at Jisoo and Lisa, âthe ability to shape shift, actually. And I watch over Jennie.â Wow. You were baffled.
âWhat do you mean âwatch over Jennie?ââ
âI have to make sure she gets her happily ever after. Make sure sheâs happy. I promised.â Roseanne replied. The mood in the room turned serious.
âYou know how in fairy tales thereâs always a villain? The villain always puts a curse on someone, right? Jennie was cursed.â Jisoo says solemnly.
Would you like to continue? Ę ďźââżâďźĘ

RosĂŠ: Bang, bang, into your room~
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ..âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ
Though the kisses started off sweet, they've turned more desperate; the two of you are eager to make up for lost time, after all. She pulls away breathlessly. âCome in? Please.â She asks shyly, ducking her head down a bit.
You finished your amazing date earlier, walked Jennie back home so you could change, and then came back.
âOf course. I'd like that very much, I might just turn into an ice sculpture if Iâm out here any longer.â You tease softly, brushing your lips across hers once more.
It isn't until your lips touch again that she realizes how cold you must be. She quickly pulls you inside the foyer and you shake off the snowflakes that have gathered in your hair, causing her to laugh. She helps you pull off your coat and scarf, hanging them up on the wall hooks.
You take the time to admire her; Jennie always looks gorgeous. Today she wore jeans and a blue chanel shirt.
She smiles as your arms wrap around her waist tightly, bringing her flush against your chest and pressing your body against hers for warmth. It is not long before you start peppering kisses along her jawline. She shivers under your soft touches; it sends a tingle throughout every inch of her body. The heat radiating from your skin ignites something within her.
She brings you up the stairs, to the second floor and into her bedroom. Itâs decorated with nude colors, mostly black, and there's a large king bed in the middle of the room. Her closet sits on one side of the room. A desk lies at the other end with books strewn over it. There are multiple framed photos of herself and the others hanging on the walls. They all seem to capture happiness.
She sits on her bed watching you walk around her room, looking at things. Once done you turn back around, âAbout what Roseanne saidâŚâ you trail off.
You see her tense up at your words, and you're quick to speak up.
âJennie, if you don't want to do what she said, we wonât, pretty girl. I didnât come here because of that. We canââ She interrupts you.
âNo, I want to. It scares me how much I want to, but I really, really do, I just never did anything like this,â you understand what sheâs saying, but she continues, âIâve never been with a girl. Iâve always wanted to, especially after how the men in the village were acting. I know Iâm attracted to girls, but with my lifeâ my fairytale of a life, it didnât seem obtainable.â
She takes a breath, âI really want to share this with you though. I feel safe enough to have this moment with you. You make me feel safe. Do you feel the same? You want me to be sure, but I want you to be sure as well, (Y/n).â The soft look on her face melts you and you wonder how someone can inflict such a range of feelings in you.
âOf course, I feel the same.â You reassured her.
âI- I just donât know what to do,â and suddenly, her voice is laced with a vulnerability, she has a shy look on her face that is endearing, but considering itâs Jennie Kim standing in front of you, you think youâd always find her endearing.
âAnd thereâs nothing wrong with that. You learn as time goes by, itâs nothing you should be ashamed of. Besides, you donât have to worry about that, right now is all about you, Love.â
That gets her to smile; a genuine, warm, gummy smile. And she reaches out, her hand touching yours. As she intertwines your fingers, you notice her eyes glinting with something different than before. She pulls your other hand in hers and then brings both of them up to her lips. She kisses the knuckles of your hands, leaving behind a slight warmth.
âThank you,â she pulls you closer to the space in front of her and her hands cup your face. You lean down, closing the gap between you and she gives you a long kiss. A bit later her tongue swipes across your bottom lip. You give her access. When her tongue pushes against yours and you let out a gasp at the sensations.
Your neck becomes stiff from the angle and you're tired of standing up. You tap Jennieâs thighs and your lips separate.
âThis okay?" She nods, allowing you to slide on her lap, your thighs on each side of her. Her hands immediately found a purchase there.
You were straddled over her waist, kissing her passionately, you toyed with the buttons on her shirt, not yet unbuttoning them, âis this okay?â you asked again, wanting permission to take her shirt off. She mumbled a raspy âyesâ and your hands worked to unbutton her blouse. Her hips were grinding into you, soft moans being devoured by each other's mouths.
Your lips trailed down to place sloppy kisses along her jawline, all the way up to her earlobe. You nibbled it softly, but hard enough for her to hiccup at the (little) pain and pleasure of it all.
"You're so beautiful," you whispered into her ear, hands sliding her top off. Your mouth worked its way to her neck, kissing and sucking on the sensitive parts, marking her with shades of blue and crimson. She moaned, leaning her head back for more access and tangling her fingers in your hair, pushing you deeper into her skin.
She loved, absolutely loved, your lips on her neck.
Your hands traveled down to the hem of her jeans, tracing stars and miscellaneous patterns onto her exposed stomach, with a touch ever so light that made her insides flutter. She could feel the area between her thighs getting hotter, wanting you to take her more than anything else right now.
She tugged at your shirt with a whine. She wanted to feel your skin too. You took your shirt off as well and she didnât waste any time. Her hands trailed up your arms, traced your collarbone, your waistâ anywhere she could touch, really.
She could feel you smile against her chest as you began kissing your way down her cleavage, then stomach.
Her abs (her abs!) contracted at your ministries. Your fingers pressed into her stomach muscles as you continued to kiss. Jennieâs muscles unconsciously flexed under your touch, reveling in being traced like they were. She could feel you smile at this.
You made sure every part of her got the attention it deserved, she was so beautiful like this, she was the most perfect thing. Jennie was your canvas, and you inked her with hickies and bruises. She loved every second of it, being underneath you, she was putty in your hands.
Moving back up you mouthed at her chest, kissing and marking the top swell of her breasts. Your other hand trailed along her spine. Your hand kept gliding upwards, your lips still attached to Jennieâs skin, until you felt the back of Jennieâs bra strap, making your hand pause for a moment. âMay I?â
After that, it wasnât long before the both of you got lost in each other's touches.
âI love you.â
You seal your declaration with another kiss, and your body busies itself with its mortal purpose: pleasing her.
âŚ
Jennie woke up in an entanglement of limbs. Her leg was in between yours and your face was buried in her neck. Your arms were wrapped around Jennie loosely and you snored lightly. Jennie couldnât help but smile at your beauty, lying next to you, your hair spread haphazardly out over your pillow. A blush covered Jennieâs cheeks upon seeing the marks she made, remembering how sweet and passionate you two were last night.
You were a very attentive lover. Always making sure she was comfortable before going farther. Your lips on her body were like magic.
Jennie brought her hand up to cup your cheek, brushing her thumb over your smooth skin. A small sigh escaped your lips at the contact. You stirred slightly, pulling yourself closer to her. Jennie smiled at how adorable you looked. A minute later you removed your head from where it previously laid and scooted up to Jennieâs height. She giggled as you fought to open your eyes.
âGood morning, Love.â She placed a kiss on your forehead.
âMhmmâŚgood morning,â you sleepily responded with a yawn. You sat up stretching. Jennie looked at the clock, âIâll start breakfast, the girls should be here in a couple hours.â
You helped Jennie with breakfast; eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns. Now you sat at the table eating. Suddenly, you remembered you had brought something; your travel scrapbook.
It was a little weathered from the event with Minho, but other than that it was legible. You passed it to a shocked Jennie.
âI canât believe you still have this.â She shook her head with a laugh before flipping through it. Her expressions were very much like a little girl getting gifted a book about princesses and unicorns.
You tilted your head, a thought coming to mind, âwould you want to travel with me?â Jennie slowly put the book down, her eyes wide. Her expression was one of excitement, before it faded; you had a feeling why.
âI would love too, I really wouldâŚBut Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosie⌠I donât think I could leave them.â She frowned.
âThey can come too. They are like family to me, more so to you, I would never split you guys up.â Jennieâs smile returned at once from your words.
âReally?â
âReally.â
And as if they were cued, knocking sounded at the door and three familiar voices were heard. And then again, you werenât able to answer the door before they walked in. (Using their own key)
âOh my gosh, you guys are glowing!â
A/N: Im afraid this is the final chapter! I want to thank all you for reading this story, you guys gave me the willpower to post on schedule! I started this on 10/17/22 , and now, the curtain comes to a close on 11/17/22.

Never Again [9]
Jennie Kim x Fem!reader
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ
â(Y/n)! Shit, (Y/n) wake up!â You felt soft hands, one cradling your face and the other gripping your hand tightly.
You let out a weak moan in response, unable to open your eyes from how heavy your eyelids felt. Your throat was scratchy and dry, as though you had just coughed up sand. Your head swam, and you wanted nothing more than to sink back into dreamland, but the voice kept you awake with its pleading tone, making it hard for you to rest.
âPlease, come onââ They pressed. This time you tried harder to wake up, you opened your good eye lazily. Your vision swarming, everything was dark and blurry. You opened up your mouth only to fall in a coughing fit. Every jerk of your body felt like your lungs were being torn apart. Like you were being stabbed over and over.
âDonât speak.â The voice seemed to have gotten closer now, and their grip around your hand tightened. You could see a figure looming over you, wet drops landing on your face every few seconds. You squinted, your vision clearing enough for you to see those familiar feline eyes.
âJennie?â You husked out, your body working overtime. Her name sounded painful coming from your lips. The figure seemed to relax, and you could barely make out the outline of her smiling at you, though watery. Her eyes filled with tears; and they began rolling down her cheeks and she reached forward to wipe them away with the pad of her thumb.
âIâm here. Donât die on me now, help is coming.â She whispered.
âJen..nie, I..â Despite the pain you were in, you managed to smile. Jennie was here, Jennie was safe, Mandu was safe. Everything was going to be okay. You were going to be okay.
âYou...how?â You croaked out. How did Jennie get here? What happened to the coyotes? Where's Minho? Whereâs Mandu? She seemed to read your thoughts.
âMandu. Mandu led me here. I had to dive in to get you.â She moved a piece of hair out of your face before leaning in to kiss your forehead. Pulling back to see your brows furrowed and lips pulled into a frown.
âWaterâŚdangerous..â And freezing. Why would she do that?
Jennie seemed to understand, âIâm okay, promise. But you are not.â She spoke, you were shivering violently. âYou absolutely cannot die on me.â She squeezed your hand again.
You felt numb at your side where the arrow was, wincing every time you tried to move your body. Your head began to pound and your eyes grew tired. You would just close them for a few seconds. Just a few. You grew slack in Jennieâs arms, who anxiously tried to get you to wake up again.
â(Y/n)? Darling, wake up- keep your eyes open for a little longer? Please.â She cried, pulling you closer to her as she willed Jisoo and Lisa to hurry.
You puffed out a breath, opening your eyes slightly, âmâsorryâŚtired.â She patted your cheek.
âNo sleeping yet. Stay with me.â She rubbed her thumb over your knuckles. You reached up in an attempt to touch her, she pressed your hand to her wet cheek.
A buzz went through you coaxing you further into darkness. Jennie watched as your eyes slowly slipped closed, much to her horror. She cried, her tears and droplets from her hair dripping on your face; you felt them.
You hated you were the cause of them, but what could you do? Your body was winning this fight, not you. Just before you blacked out you heard a thudding against the earth accompanied by pants and quiet growls. They got softer in volume as the sounds became closer.
âJennie..â A voice mumbled.
Then there was silence.
Now you lay unconscious on Lisaâs bed. Jisoo and Lisa fussing over you. Jennie had left the room unable to watch you in that state anymore. You havenât woken up since being brought to the shop.
She ran into Roseanne on her way down the hallway into the guest room. She took one glance at Roseanneâs face; who so desperately tried to hide the guilt she felt, and pulled her into the guest room.
Tears filled Jennieâs eyes again as she turned back to Roseanne after shutting the door.
âYou knew this would happen.â She simply states, glossy feline-like eyes narrowed at Roseanne, who stared at her unphased.
âWhy didnât you tell me?â Jennieâs voice trembled as she spoke. Roseanne shook her head rapidly, she couldnât speak, she couldnât tell Jennie. Roseanne could feel her voice constricting in her throat like a rubber band ready to snap. Jennie began to hit her chest weakly. âI could have been prepared!â She cried.
None of this wouldâve happened to you.
Jennie continued hitting Roseanne as she spoke. Her tears dripped from her face and onto the floor from her angry brown eyes, leaving damp patches on the carpet underneath her. Her clenched fists fell helplessly to her sides, she looked at the floor. âDid you see?â Jennie asked in a quiet voice.
Did she see the bruises and wounds littered all around your body, your black eye, bruised ribs, your pale skin, cold to the touchâ did she see what they did to you?
Roseanne shook her head in response. She didnât, she wasnât there and she wasnât able to, they only showed her so much.
But she could feel Jennieâs emotions the moment you were pulled out the river. The strongest emotions Jennie felt were fear, anxiety, and despair. She felt it all. She hated herself for it. She could very much have stopped it, all of that from happening. But limited time, that limited time of Jennieâs.
This had to happen.
She wouldnât be able to clear anything up till this was over. Till Jennie wasnât cursed anymore. She hated that Jennie couldnât have a normal life.
Jennie was pulled into Roseanneâs arms, and Roseanne did what she did best. Balance out emotions, make sure Jennie is content. Thatâs what sheâs here for, to watch over Jennie. To get her out of this mess.
Jennie cried into Roseanneâs neck, holding on tightly. Roseanne petted her hair as her breathing gradually returned to normal.
As they separated the door swung open revealing Lisa. Her expression quickly changed to worry at the sight of Jennieâs tear stained face. âEverything okay?â Lisa asked, her eyes switching between Roseanne and Jennie. Roseanne gave her a thumbs up.
Lisa sighed softly. She turned to look at Jennie, âYou need to eat.â She said, holding a plate of meat dumplings. They all sat down on the couches, Lisa spoke as Jennie ate. âThe poison is drained and sheâs all patched up.â Lisa played with her pants fabric, before continuing. âBut we donât know when sheâll wake up, thatâs up to her.â
You didnât wake up the next day, or the day after that. You didnât wake up until four days later.
Your eyes fluttered open slowly and you blinked once, twice, thrice. Everything was still foggy, but clearer than it has been in awhile, if ever. You were in a room unknown to you.
You tried moving your arm to rub your eyes but found yourself held down by something. Looking to the side, you saw Jennie laying on your chest as she sat in a chair pulled next to your side of the bed. Your hand interlaced with hers. Her hair fell onto her eyes as she slept with soft snores escaping her parted lips.
How long were you out?
You brought your free hand up to your face, feeling the damage there, and surprisingly you felt okay. Your eye didnât hurt anymore and you didnât feel any cuts on your face.(strange..)
You attempted to pull yourself up only to groan at the stiffness in your side. This woke Jennie up. As soon as she opened her eyes and noticed you were awake she sat up straight, her hand gently grasping yours. She stared at you for a while.
â(Y/N), thank god.â She sniffled, rubbing her eyes. She ran a hand through her hair and you noticed her puffy eyes. âYou scared me half to death. I thought you might never wake up.â
The possibility youâd never wake up was terrifying to Jennie. All this happened because the stupid cat chase, which you got involved with because of her. None of this wouldâve happened.
She sees no reason to continue this if those close to her will get hurt. Besides, she already found the one for her and quite frankly itâs none of the men in the village. It happens to be a woman..
âAre you okay?â You ask after a while, seeing her stare at her lap in thought. Jennie looks at you in disbelief, are you really asking her that?
Jennie shook her head, and said the words that've been on her mind for awhile.
âYouâd be doing me a favor if you just took the key.â She spoke tiredly, exhausted from everything. You froze and your heart sped up.
Sheâs offering you to take it?
Sure, if she asked that before you wouldnât waste a second. If you could make Jennie happy you wouldnât hesitate tooâ but now it seems wrong.
What if sheâs just giving up and picking you?
Isn't the whole point of the cat chase to find someone she loves? Why would she give it to you?
(Maybe she does love you?)
Jennie stands up and kisses your forehead before walking to the door. She pauses in the doorway. âThink about it? You know where to find me.â Then she was gone.
You sat dumbfounded, not knowing what to make of this situation. You closed your eyes and sighed, opening them a moment later by a rapping sound against the window.
Your mixed colored feline-friend stood on the outside windowsill.
âMandu!â Excitedly, you got off the bed and walked over to the window pulling it open.
âAre you okay?â You took her into your arms and she nuzzled your neck.
âHow did you ger all the way up here?â You whispered into her fur as you sat back on the bed. You ran a hand down her back soothingly.
âYou weâre so cool! Flying at Minhoâs face- good job.â You cooed.
As you were petting her head you couldnât help but look at the key. Tentatively you gripped it in your hand, itâs metal cool against your palm. Mandu stilled, her eyes wide, pleading.
You knew she was perfectly fine with you taking the key. The cat trusted you.
You dropped it with a heavy sigh, falling back against the bed.
âI donât know..â You spoke aloud to nobody in particular. Mandu climbed on top of your stomach, her face invading your vision.
She shook herself slightly, the key dangling above your nose.
âYou want me to take it?â You sat back up. Mandu let out a meow in response. You slipped the key off her neck. Mandu looked strangely bare without it. After you took it off she ran back to the window sill and hopped to the ground. She looked up expectantly at you.
âYou want me to go to Jennieâs now?â The cat ran off.
â(Y/n)!â The door opened revealing Lisa, her eyes wide spin noticing you half out the window.
âNo no no, Jisoo wonât like this, you've just woken up!â She pulled you back in the room. Jisoo and Lisa checked you over before letting you go, and Roseanne made sure you ate. Roseanne says that âfood is most important for you body.â
Then you were on your way.
Meanwhile hunters were off your trail for now; busying themselves with the coyotes that attacked them and stole Minhoâs arm.
Minho didnât die from getting his arm bitten off, although now he only had one arm, he boasted his missing one off to the bar goers. It was his âscar of battleâ.
You now stand in front of Jennieâs door, clad in a coat, beanie and gloves. You fumble with the key in your pocket nervously. It feels like you're a stranger now, like you're visiting for the first time.
So, with shaky hands you unlock the door and step in. âJennie?â You call a few times and receive no answer. Most of the lights are off but the fireplace is lit, crackling and popping in the silent house. You take your coat and hat off and hang it on the rack.
Maybe you came at a bad time? But she said she would be hereâ
You take another step, your gaze on the top of the stairs. Distracted, the door slams behind you.
You jump in surprise and turn around.
Jennie stands there, leaning against the door. Eyes dark and cat-like stare back at yours.
You canât help but feel like you walked into a trap. Cat and mouse, predator and prey.
Of course youâre the mouse.

âHeâs going after the key- and that (Y/n) woman is there too.â
Kai knew he shouldâve kept Minho on a leash. They made a deal and heâs breaking it for the second time. Minho was always the wild one, so to speak. He acted on his own accord, even when it came down to Kai trying to get him to listen to reason.
âYou're in the way, a thorn that must be removed.â He spoke darkly, pulling out a dagger, âPermanently.â
He was gonna kill you. You couldnât believe it. You wouldnât.
âAre you being serious?â You whisper in major disbelief. âYou're crazy.â Insane. you scoff. Minho only shrugged.
âLove makes you do crazy things.â He simply stated, smiling to himself. You had no idea.
He remembered the time he fell in love with Jennie. It was four years agoâ he was twenty years old, Jennie the same age. That night, it was like something struck him; his heart particularly. The days following he began to notice Jennie in a different way, and came to admire her beauty. Before, his eyes didnât linger, his heart didnât pound in his chest, he didnât think about how soft her hands might be or how it would be kissing her, he didnât catch himself dreaming about waking up next to her, he didnât do any of those.
He didnât question why one day he woke up and began to notice these things, why he began to fall in love with Jennie.
He remembered walking around town seeing Jennie laugh with those three fools as they shopped together, his heart revved up, and this hope, that she turns her head, locks eyes with him, likes him back. He recalls spying on Jennie in the late night, wanting to see if she fantasizes about him like he did about her.
After all, he went out of his way to deliver flowers, gifts, notes that could be considered love letters. She waved and smiled at himâ heâs sure she smiled the brightest at him. His love letters contained only his deepest feelings about her, his dreams.
He remembered feeling jealousy for the first time. When he figured out his friend Kai liked Jennie the way he did too. When he found out most of the male population in the village liked her. Jennie was his.
It got ugly. It was a race, they camped outside her house wanting to be the first one to tell her good morning, wanting to be the first one to see her. Ultimately, wanting to be the first one to romance her.
She paid no attention to him, or anyone really. It seemed like she wasnât used to this abrupt change. This went on for three years, her constantly being approached. Then she decided she would try and date a few of them. The men that went on dates with her boasted and bragged in the other menâs faces, only to have fingers and mockery pointed at them when they got dumped.
Jennie never stayed in a relationship long because throughout those relations she figured out the men all had something in common. They had no patience, they werenât very kind to animals, and they showed her off like a trophy; further boosting their ego. She couldnât go outside as much or so much as look at another man due to jealousy. They were also very sexual she figured out. When she didnât help them with their needs they either ignored her or forced themselves on her.
So then she came up with the cat chase idea, and Minho thought he had a chance. He didnât, itâs proved nobody really did until he poisoned the cat, only for you to ruin his plans.
Minho stalked up to you, knife in hand in mid swing, you backed up hoping to grab his arm- but a bundle of fur stopped him in his actions.
He didnât expect a cat to come flying at his face. Mandu hissed ferociously as she clawed at his head. He grunted In pain. âStupid cat!â
Minho had trouble pulling her off because her claws were attached to his shirt collar.
âDammit!â He struggled to get her off. But when he did, she was thrown on the ground next to you. Her claws made a stripe across his face from her grip. Her legs quickly found purchase and she pulled herself up, now standing defensively.
He glared back at you with wild eyes.
Minho chuckled, licking the cut on his lip. Minhoâs face was scratched up, he had open cuts with blood dripping down from them. His eye, lip, cheekbone, eyebrow- and a lot more areas of his face were cut. He used his shirt to wipe them. He truly looked like a villain.
He complentated something before puttIng the knife away, you watched confusedly.
âLooks like your little friend came to save you,â he boasted, amusement in his tone, he snapped his fingers. âBoys.â
Two men threw a net on Mandu, the rocks on the ends of it weighing her down so she couldnât get out. She fought, scratching and biting at the net before she realized it was useless. You immediately squat down and grab the net to free her, but a gunshot went off, scaring you. You turned around.
âWoah! Slow your horses.â You eyed the pistol in his hand wearily before standing up. Mandu looked at you, her eyes wide. Youâd say she was scared. You were too.
âThis changes things.â he mumbled, a grin stretching across his face. It was his lucky day. Who would have thought heâd get both of you; the cat and you?
The key.
He stuffed his hands in his pockets as if to not look threatening. âIf you promise to stay out of my way I wonât kill you.â He kicked the dirt.
âYou could be saved! All I ask is that you grab the key and hand it to me, turn your back on us and leave.â He shrugged. This was an easy decision, he thought. You would just take the key from around the cat's neck, and give it to him. Then he would let you walk away. Heâd even send you an invite to his wedding. Nobody had to die if you played your cards right.
Well, the cat will die regardless.
He would kill it of course. Itâs been such a burden throughout the year. He didnât even like cats. Heâs sure Jennie will get over itâ she has to get over it.
Itâs not like heâll tell her he killed her, no. Sheâll die drowning in the river. Accidentally falling to the current, he tried to save her, but it was too late; he could imagine himself telling her.
Heâd have no blood on his hands. It was the perfect plan.
You rolled your eyes. What was with these deals? Your answer would always be, âNo.â At this point you could care less about the key, you care about Mandu. He never specified heâd let you walk away with her. He also had that bow strapped to his back. You werenât taking any chances.
âNo?â He mumbled. He couldnât fathom why you would trade your life for a key. But he didnât care. That just means heâll get rid of both of you. Jennie was fond of you, and with you out of the picture sheâd have no one else to love besides him anyways.
Meanwhile Namjoon was leading the way to Minho, whoâd seen his party go there on his way to his home. They passed through the marketplace, then past your house and to the bridge. They went down the trail on the side and opened the wooden mossy door, climbing up the stone steps. He heard Minho berating you and his pace quickened.
âMinho!â Kai yelled, his steps angry.
He walked up to their group. Minho grinded his teeth in annoyance. He turned around, his backside facing you as he got himself together. He conversed with Kai angrily. The men crowded around them, worried at their bossâs actions, and confused about Kaiâs appearance, so the attention wasnât currently on you.
You took it as a chance to hook your foot in one of the netâs squares, lifting it upwards to free Mandu. Once she wiggled out, she didnât run like you hoped she would, so you nudged her with your foot, urging her to.
âPlease..â You whispered as she looked at you with wide defiant eyes. âmove..â You pushed, your jaw clenched. She meowed, not loud but enough for them to hear. âHey!â They pointed at you.
âIâll be fine! Go- please go.â She did, running between the legs of a man she sprinted off into the trees. Some of the men gave chase to her but later gave up.
Minho turned to Kai, punching him square in the jaw. âLook what you did, you fool!â Kai distracted him. He harshly pushed Kai away before he gazed at you coldly.
âYou dumb bitch- always in my way!â He screamed, his face red with anger. He gestured to his men. His men, equally as annoyed, surrounded you in a circle before closing in. They grabbed your hair, yanking you to the ground before a barrage of kicks and punches came.
They kicked at your sides, aiming for your back, head, and torso. You could only cover your head with your arms and curl up in a ball. You bit your lip from the pain. You struggled to breathe, desperately trying to take air in so you didnât black out. Your eyes watered from the dirt they kicked up during their assault.
Pain hits you like a bullet everywhere they strike. It had you gasping from the searing stinging. You felt a strong pain in your chest area. Everytime you breathed a gritty sensation was felt; you knew you broke your ribs. You could taste the salty, metallic taste of blood in your mouth.
One of the menâs feet slipped, effectively hitting you in the eye. Excruciating pain blossomed there. You couldnât help but cry. You felt numb.
Soon the outside sounds became muffled by the ringing of your ears and the bounding in your head.
You just want to sleep.
You could only hope Mandu got away, actually listened to you. Could only hope she found Jennie or Roseanne or Lisoo. You rather not think about the bad what-ifâs.
You donât know how long it was; how long you trapped yourself in your thoughts as you waited for something, anything to happen. The sound blocking your senses had faded by then.
But you no longer felt them striking you. The grunts and laughs that filled the air were replaced with gasps and shrieks of terror. You heard rushed footsteps and the sound of weaponry being equipped. You heard Minho and Kai shouting, trying to get their men back in uniform. Though the fear got to them; whatever they had seen.
You rested on the ground, particularly relieved they stopped hurting you. You took a moment to rest on the cool grass and listen to the river. Then you heard snarling, a vicious growling reverberated through the atmosphere. It was very animalistic, making goosebumps rise on your arms.
You lifted yourself, leaning on one arm before opening your eyes. Although blurry, you could make out two very big coyotes. They stalked out from the forestry, walking with calculated steps. The coyote's eyes were narrowed and their gums pulled away in a snarl to show the rows of sharp teeth.
You stood up on shaky legs, feeling your muscles strain. Dizziness hitting you, your vision turned black before clearing up. Your left eye felt sore, it hurt, so you didnât open it. You opened your right eye lazily, breathing out in slow breaths as you tried to ground yourself.
The scene before you was ugly and chaotic. Minhoâs men ran around like headless chickens trying to get away from the coyotes. You could see the white colored coyote ripping through Kai and Minhoâs men, keeping them at bay. Kai was kicked into the bark of the tree, which knocked him out and MinhoâŚwell, Minho was looking at you. His gaze full of rage, all directed at you who had ruined everything.
He unhooked the pointed iron-head arrow meant to kill Mandu from his bow, throwing the bow to the ground. He smiled devilishly, insanely.
He ran at you with the poison-coated arrow in hand. You knew you wouldnât be able to move in time, youâd fall with the first step you took. You could see the gray colored coyote running after him, its sharp teeth barred for all to see. It looked angry.
Minho stabbed the arrow into your side. Your eyes widened as you grabbed it, trying to pull it out, but he simply put his hand on top of yours, stopping you from pulling it out and effectively making it dig in harder, deeper. You winced as the area began to sting. Your side was on fire. You stumbled backwards a few steps, grinding your teeth. He smiled cockily at you, opening his mouth for a remark only to scream in pain.
As you fell backwards into the river you could see the gray coyote bite into his arm, ripping it off. You also saw a flash of mixed colored fur and then worried feline eyes.
Then the cold engulfed you.

The Day with Jennie Kim [7]

The turning point.
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ
Youâve been moping at home for the past three days. Despite the cover Roseanne gave you and her quickly sending you home to change out of your wet clothes, you still got sick. You were bedridden for two days, and now your cold has almost gone away. Jisoo wasnât allowing you to return back to work despite you telling her your fine. She insists you take a break after what happened with Mandu.
After what felt the longest, the third day of your sick leave was over, you headed to work the next morning.
You approached the shop, smiling when you heard music drifting through the cracked open windows. It was a song youâve never heard playing before. You entered through the studio instead of the front door this time, wanting to drop something off. You hummed to the music as you set up your pottery wheel, you looked to the side and noticed Roseanne hadnât arrived to work yet.
You placed your things down before walking to the slightly opened door that led into the main shop, only to freeze.
Lisa and Jisoo stood in the middle of the shop, their bodies slowly swaying to the music that played. They held each other close as they moved in perfect sync with the beat. Their eyes met, locked in an intimate stare that had your face hot from witnessing it. You felt like you were intruding. (You were.) Jisoo slightly lifted her head to look up at Lisa who smiled shyly at her, she placed a chaste kiss on Jisooâs lips. But it seemed like Jisoo wanted moreâ so Lisa kissed her again. This time deeper, and more passionate than the first. It was as if she was pouring all her love into the kiss. (She was.)
Now you truly feel intrusive. You backed up, one foot behind the other⌠Then again, one foot behind the other, but this time it wasnât air, you collided into a body. Scared, you let out a squeak and turned your head, Roseanne stood there with wide eyes. Although she wasnât looking at you. She looked at her friends lip-locked.
You began to open your mouth, maybe to tell her to not scare you like that, but to also ask what the hell she was looking at with such wide eyes. Thatâs until you felt a pinch to your side, she had pinched you.
âOuc-!â You turned, knowing your sound had to have gotten the two's attention. You watched amusingly as they both turned to you shocked. Jisooâs head sharply moved upwards, hitting Lisa in the chin. Then they both separated, Lisa pretended to fix her bangs and Jisoo whistled to herself as she watered a nearby plant. It really was something youâd see in a cartoon on television. Lisa and Jisoo had flushed faces; either from them realizing you caught them, or from theirâŚearlier activities.
Roseanne cleared her throat. Lisa and Jisoo exchanged a look before Jisoo took a deep breath before turning to you.
â(Y/n?) Did you..â Jisoo began, only to be cut off by you slamming the door, and once closed you pushed Roseanne back a bit. Glaring at her when she started laughing at the situation. You paced around the room for a couple seconds before sitting down at your desk. Youâll have to face your bosses head on. Maybe they wonât fire you. The doorknob started to jiggle and you held your breath.
âThatâs my que to leave, good luck (Y/n)!â She gave you a thumbs up before walking out. You could see Roseanne pulling the cart as she hastily walked down the slope, when she got to the bottom she pointed at you and made a slicing motion under her neck. You rolled your eyes.
You had a feeling she already knew about the two, and that you were just left in the dark about Jisoo and Lisaâs relationship. You rolled a pencil on your desk as you were waiting for them to unlock the studio door.
It didnât take long for them to open it. They walked in slowly, Lisa hiding behind Jisoo despite being taller than her was quite funny.
âSo..â You trailed off.
âYou saw, yes?â You nodded. They looked tense, itâs then you realized you need to clear up your view on their relationship.
âYou guys are cute.â You broke the silence, and not after a beat you spoke again, âI already have a name for you two!â You smiled like you were a genius.
âWhat?â Lisa questioned.
âYeah. Itâs Lisoo!â They stared at you in silence.
âWhat?â Jisoo questioned.
âWow, you two are really playing broken-record player today. I said Lisoo! Lisa plus Jisoo? Get it?â You deadpanned.
âNo, We get that.â, âYeah itâs cute. I like it.â
âI mean, youâre fine with us- two women being together?â
âHuhâ of course.â You tilted your head. Wasnât it obvious?
Lisaâs shoulders relaxed, âOkay good.â
âSo how long?â
âOh- years.â Wow.
âI canât believe I didnât find out earlier.â You whined.
âWhat can we say? Weâre good at keeping secrets.â They are.
Roseanne walked through the door at that moment out of breath, âWhat did I miss?â She smiled lopsidedly. You stared blankly at her.
A couple hours later You finished work, it was early afternoon. You were stopped as you walked out the shop by Jisoo.
âHey, Jennie told me to give you this.â Jisoo held an envelope in her hand. You took it from her, ignoring the way she smiled knowingly. You walked down the slope and sat on a nearby bench before opening its contents. In neat handwriting she wrote,
Hello, it's Jennie. I hope Jisoo followed through and gave you this letter.
I heard about what happened with Mandu and what you didâŚI donât know how to thank you, really. Iâm not sure what would have happened if they got the keyâ undoubtedly, Iâd have to let them in, into my life because itâs the rule. But you prevented that.
Youâve done so much for me already.
I would like to show my gratitude. Would today be a good day to cook together? Although Iâm not in front of you as you're reading this, if you're interested stop by my house after work?
You smiled at the cat she drew at the bottom. Of course you would head to Jennieâs house after work..
You approach the big house again and ring the doorbell, and a minute later you hear feet padding, then the door opens.
â(Y/n)! Hi!â Jennie opens the door excitedly. You go to greet her back, not at all ready to be pulled into a hug. You were flustered to say the least. You hugged back, your head resting atop Jennieâs.
When you pulled away you were met with Jennie clad in a sweater and jeans. This was probably the first time you saw her dressed in something comfy because dresses and heels aren't your definition of comfy. (you thought she looked cute.)
âHi Jennie. You seem happy today.â
âYes I am,â because she got to see you.
âOhâ do come in, you can take your shoes off and put them there.â She gestured. You did as she said. You looked around. It was your first time being inside Jennieâs house.
The foyer was a square room with a shoe shelf, rug, and coat rack. It had a unique chandelier hanging from the roomâs ceiling and brick flooring. After the foyer, which led into another area that split into five hallways. But in the area, gray carpet lined the floors and a grand staircase encased with railing led to the second floor.
Jennie smiled at you who had an awed expression. She would give you a tour sometime, but now, âFollow me, I donât want you to get lost.â She informed you as she took a left. You turned into a hallway lined with paintings.
You slowly trailed behind her, admiring her home. It was very spacious, the high ceilings and wide door frames made it open. You canât believe she lived alone.
After another turn and walk through what looked like a living room, you arrived at her kitchen. Her kitchen had almost every appliance you could think of and was big. There was a long island in the middle.
Jennie turned to you and guessured to the seat across from where she stood, you sat down, âwelcome to the place where I make very delicious things.â
You got comfy in your seat, âIs Mandu here?â
âAh. Youâve just missed her.â She informed albeit reluctantly, she knew you wouldnât like hearing that.
Jennie placed a basket of granny apples on the counter before shuffling around some more. You looked at her wide eyed. How could she be so nonchalant after what happened?
âYouâre letting her wander around again?â You frowned, unable to hide the judgment from your voice. You donât think you could handle another scare. This failed attempt of the Hunters only proved to make them more determined, unfortunately. They got a small taste of victory and now wanted more. Not to mention Minho is still looking into how his plan failed. Itâs only a matter of time before he connects the dots.
âYes I am, but..â She trailed off as she reached up to grab what seemed like a mixing bowl, wincing at the pain that shot up her arm, she retracted. You noticed, and with a worried look you grabbed it for her, placing it on the counter.
âThank you.â She squeezed your arm.
She continued on. âBut I assure you, thereâs no safer place she could be right now.â Jennie smiled at you before continuing to dig through the cabinets. You told yourself to trust her words. Soon she stopped rummaging around and began washing her hands.
You looked at all the ingredients and cooking utensils she laid out. The main things that caught your eye were an aluminum pie pan, apples, butter, dough, and cinnamon. âAre you maybe making apple pie?â
âYes, shall we get started?â
âWe?â You laughed, âIâm helping?â You mused, rounding the table to stand next to Jennie.
âOf course.â
âAnd here I thought I could sit and watch.â You spoke teasingly as you rolled up your sleeves to wash your hands as well.
âYou help cook, you get to eat it. Itâs only fair.â She winked. âUsually youâd only be eating and the food would be cooked by me already, but I was out of it for a couple days.â
âOh? Did you get sick too? This weather is freezing.â You dried off your hands. Being around the mountains and the village built in elevated land meant it would be way colder than normal autumn weather. You canât imagine what winter would be like.
âYou have no idea.â She shook her head.
âAlright, but are you sure you want me to help? I do have an unpleasant record of ruining food and setting things on fire.â
âWell, itâs a good thing you canât mess anything up with this recipe.â Little did Jennie know how wrong she was.
You were tasked with peeling the apples. You nicked your fingers a few times through the process, but soon you had eight peeled and slicedâ a little smaller sliced than they should beâ apples. Jennie was preheating the oven and buttering the pans.
Jennie then sets a mixing bowl in between you.
She helped you transfer the apples into it, thankfully she managed to save half the apples from falling to the floor. Then she added cinnamon, brown sugar, granulated sugar, nutmeg, and a small amount of lemon juice. You mixed it and then you were on to the next step.
Making the pie crust. You helped Jennie grab a huge flat wooden cupboard from the shelf and sprinkled flour over it. She handed you the rolling pin, you're going to be put to work, âIâm doing the hard parts hm?â You rolled your sleeves up again to prevent flour getting on them.
Jennie watched as you got to work flattening at the dough, your muscles flexing as you did so. Her eyes lingered on your arms. Pulling the delivery cart did you some goodâ!
âJennie?â
âYes?â She answered, not missing a beat. She blinked, gazing back at you. Her neck burned from embarrassment.
â I think I rolled it out enough. What is the next step?â
She turned back to the bowl of apples, âWeâll just cook these for a few minutes so they donât get undercooked in the oven.â She poured the apple mixture into a skillet on low heat.
âJust put butter in there. Iâll be right back.â She informed you before leaving the kitchen. You spaced out, mistaking hearing her say butter for milk.
âSo I just pour milk in here right?â You asked, as she walked back in the kitchen, looking at the milk you already poured on the apples currently sizzling in the pan.
âYes thatâs rightâ waitâŚmilk?â Jennie quickly stood up to check on your progress. Her mouth opened and closed before she kept it shut. Although a couple seconds later she started giggling. You were not supposed to put milk with the apples in the pan. Thankfully you didnât pour a lot.
âWait, is that wrong?? Ah..I ruined it didnât IâŚâ You frowned, you havenât even put the filling in the pie, you hadnât even put the pie in the oven and you messed up.
âNo not really, you just have to cook them longer so it thickens up again.â Jennie stood next to you, the smell of citrus and vanilla hitting your nose. You thought Jennie always smelled nice and comforting, cozy.
You handed her the wooden spoon and watched as she turned the heat up and stirred. You wish you could cook like her.
Once the apples were done you transferred them to the pit crust for filling. Then you rolled another circle and covered the apples. Jennie cut holes in it so it can cook, brushed some egg wash on top and then she popped it in the oven.
The pie was done an hour later, the smell wafting around made your mouth water. Jennie pulled the pot out with oven mitts. You both cut a piece and left it to cool while Jennie brought drinks to her living room; where you were going to eat.
Her living room was next to the house's entrance. It had a fireplace against the wall. There was a long couch moved into an L shape, a glass coffee table centered. You both sat down on one couch.
You took a bite of the pie. âItâs good!â You exclaimed. You would cry over it, but you're not Roseanne. A comfortable silence fell on the two of you. Only the clicking of forts hitting tupperware was heard. You finished eating about seven minutes later.
Jennie set her finished plate on the glass table, and turned to you, tucking her legs. You did the same.
âI didnât see you around as much last week. I even visited the shop a couple of times but you were always gone..â Jennie pouted. But then something dawned on her. Her expression of realization, she spoke with a teasing tone. âPerhaps you were avoiding me as well?â
Your expression fell into panic. âIâ I guess I was..but it was to keep you and your cat safe.â You stuttered, your voice quiet with a tinge of guilt. Jennie laughed.
âRelax, Iâm just pulling your leg.â She said leisurely as she patted your knee. âTo protect me, hm?â She wiggled her brows. You stared at her with your jaw slack. What did you do to deserve this teasing? You turned your body away from her.
âNooo,â she dragged on, âlook at me, please. Iâm sorry.â She wasnât. You were adorable.
You huffed, still not facing her. You found amusement in teasing her back. She poked your back a couple times before giving up.
âMandu missed you.â She spoke up. She was referring to when you avoided the feline. Had she now? You turned back to face her, now curious.
âReally?â
âReally.â
âDid she tell you that?â You raised a brow.
âShe did.â You thought maybe Jenchulichaeng could really talk to animals after all.
âReally?â
âReally.â
A comfortable silence fell upon you. You both were content without saying words, you enjoyed each other's presence.
You looked around the living room and noticed a book on the table. It was a famous book about a man who flew around the world, visiting countries and states.
âDo you like traveling?â You asked when the question came to mind. She hummed.
âI like the idea of traveling. Youâd see and experience different cultures, architecture, and people unique to those places. I know I would love it too.â She spoke almost dreamily.
âYouâve never traveled before?â You were surprised. She had all thisâ yet she seems like sheâs never done it before.
âIâve never left Furusato.â She explained, her eyes downcast. Almost like she was ashamed sheâs never traveled before. Did she not want to leave Furusato and travel? But she speaks so up in the clouds about it. You looked at her confused, causing her to elaborate.
âI canâtâ well, I can, just not this year. Next year.â Maybe.
âOh.â You didnât have many words, as you didnât want to pry even more. You felt the need to brighten up Jennieâs mood. âWell, Iâve traveled a lot. Itâs a hobby of mine when I have the money. I have a book dedicated to the places Iâve traveled, you know, something like a log. It has pictures too!â
Jennie seemed intrigued. âIn color?â
âYes. I could lend it to you to look at?â
âIâd love that.â She really would.
âI can..I can actually have it back to you by tonight.â You knew your old traveling scrapbook was laying around somewhere in your house. You were a decent shot at photography, Jennie would love to see the photos from your travels.
âIâll take you up on that promise.â She grinned.
You left about half an hour later, wanting to find the book and get it back to Jennie before the sun goes down.
You were in for quite the surprise though.
You managed to find the book, and began to head back. The sun was already setting. You wanted to see The Willow, how the tree looked in fall so you made a stop.
You walked under the bridge, and opened the mossy door, walking into the clearing.
All while being watched.
He smoothed his hair to the side, the bow he used before hanging loosely strapped on his back. They entered quietly through the entrance, wondering to themselves why theyâve never seen this area before.
You stood under the tree, simply enjoying the scenery. The book in your hand. It seemed like the river that flowed through the village made it to this place, it curved around the area rushing as fast as it did by the creek.
Deciding you saw enough you turned around. Minhoâs voice stopped you in your tracks. You froze, clutching the photo book tighter.
âYou did it didnât you?â He asked. He shook his head as he laughed in disbelief. It was only a matter of time till he found out. You did leave your sweater behind before you jumped in the river. They found it when they retraced their steps.
âWhy must you always be a thorn in our side?!â He paused, giving you a long stare, he searched for something. He gaped at the realization. A realization he shouldâve been caught on too.
âYou like Jennie? Noâ you seem to have feelings for her farther than that donât you?â He scowled.
Ever since you came here everythingâs been all over the place. They thought you were harmless, just another foreigner, only to find out you were a part of the competition.
âNo itâs not like that.â You clenched your fists helplessly at your sides.
âYou're just like us arenât you? The only difference is that you're a woman.â The men around him laughed, Jennie wouldnât date a woman, sheâs looking for a man after all.
âIâm nothing like you..â Brainless fools, blinded by obsession, calling that love. You werenât the one trying to kill the cat. You werenât the one constantly making dirty remarks to Jennie.
You were her friend, and content to stay that way.
âWell it doesnât matter now does it? You're in the way, a thorn that must be removed.â He spoke darkly, pulling out a dagger, âPermanently.â
Kai stumbled out of the bar laughing, a woman to his left and right. A beer in his left hand. They kissed him on the cheek and parted ways, giggling at how he waved at them in his drunken stupor. Kai smiled charmingly at them, chuckling to himself at the effect he had on women. He only pretended to be drunk, he was just slightly tipsy.
Kai leaned against the stone walls with a sigh. He lazily gazed at the almost empty streets, only those who stay awake in the midnight lingered. The feeling of loneliness creeps up at him and he frowns. Why can he get any woman except Jennie Kim? Why is she different? He shook his head.
Kai kicked the decorative rocks before shoving one hand in his pocket. He strolled the brick lamp illuminated streets, no particular destination in mind. He stopped upon hearing the rustle of a bush, shaking his head when nothing came out of it. He took a sip of his poison before continuing sauntering.
In the distance, Jennie rambled the streets in search of you. She was clad in a sweater with a shawl around her shoulders, and her hair in a ponytail. She wasnât really thinking about being seen or being alone this late, just that she had to find you. You said you would be back earlier and you werenât.
Kai noticed her figure despite his wavering eyesightâ how could he not when she was so alluring? Kai blinked, the familiar warm feeling bubbling up in his chest made him smile. It instantly replaced that feeling of loneliness and despair.
He watched as Jennieâs pace began to speed up. He noticed that she slowly became shoâ and then she was no longer there. Kai was dumbfounded, had he been hallucinating? He took another swig of his beer.
Maybe he was drunker than he thought. Hurried footsteps approached.
âKai! Minho is making a move without you!â Namjoon informed as he finally caught up with him. He had been searching everywhere for Kai.
âWhat?â Kai asked, a bite in his tone.
âHeâs going after the key- and that (Y/n) woman is there too.â
