Invigilation is the most boring, least rewarding, most time wasting but essential duty of a lecturer. Now that I am retired I will not say I miss invigilating but I am glad I had gone through the experience. We can tell a lot about a person by the way they discharged of their responsibilities as an invigilator. Often we will hear people say they would be very happy to be invigilating with so-and-so. Invigilating will bring out our true colors. Nobody likes invigilating at huge venues. Nobody likes invigilating in a venue with too many courses. A long time ago, food and drinks were provided to invigilators. Through time, only drinks were provided; then they were given two pieces of sweets, and then …. nothing.
