Shot on sight.Â
That should have been a more dangerous prospect to the Captain. But heâd already been through a war of his own, and even as a nameless solider, you were just another target - another strategy - to the enemy.Â
So this was just another fight, another cause that he stood behind. It was his unwavering truth that he defended, the one that justified breaking off from what was said to be âgoodâ.Â
Those accords only feigned security.Â
No - it wasnât himself he worried for. Steve knew the battle he signed up for, and the consequences that came with that choice. But the list of names following, his teammates, friends - thatâs what made his blood boil, seeing only red as his collected demeanor shifted to rage.Â
There was anger and overwhelming guilt -Â
Sam - His wingman, a friend. He had a good chance at survival - He knew what it was like to be a solider, to live the life always looking over your shoulder. There was Bucky...and the thought of anyone getting their hands on him again, to tear him apart and instill in his a different truth - thatâs what got Steve to worry.Â
The list went on, and although every name meant so much, Steve stopped at the ones that hadnât even declared a side.Â
Thor
Hulk
No.Â
No. No. No.Â
Thatâs not what was supposed to happen.Â
This was their fight - this was Tony vs. Steve on every level. This was the government against Captain America and all who followed him. But these people hadnât made a choice, and now their absence has left them marked as fugitives.Â
At this point, it wasnât even a choice, it was an obligation - Steve needed to find them. If the other side wasnât offering protection for them, then he would.Â
If they were going to be caught in the crossfire of his fight, he was prepared to do something about it.Â
